after seeing caspa last night...

Post by ITs A TRAP » Fri Nov 26, 2010 11:58 pm

Gutted. Last two songs he played was 'in for the kill' followed by 'heartbeat'. Was a commercial night but seriously wtf.

I was slightly disappointed with his set last night as well, I was expecting a bit more of his older stuff and he had a few average mixes in there. Oh well, I'm just happy we keep getting these big names over here. Did you stay for Jason Howson's set? I seriously think it was better than Caspa's.

Yeah the sounds were really good, and the lighting system was quite impressive considering it wasn't a main stage. Since Mt Eden were playing after Caspa, I wen't straight down to Afrojack. I came back upstairs for the last 30minutes of Mt Eden (foolishly) and when Sierra Leone played it was brosteppa central, to make things worse, I got told that was the second time they played it in their set... Jason Howson brought it back with a good set, he has the right balance of slightly commercial, easy to dance to songs, so he gets people to come to his sets, but not the absolute 100% brostep rubbish.

To be honest, Jesse Cooper's mixing was actually quite good for the time I was there, just the music was very average.

yeh absolutely, he expected it to be a commercial crowd which it was, so playing the heavy brostep was the way to go?

I'm talking about Auckland, and I presume he is as well because Afrojack only came to Auckland. Yeah Borgore is here this Friday at fu/zen, considering going just for something to do and some of my mates enjoy him so I will.

wtf??? Mt Eden actually exist as real performing DJs??? I thought they were just an internet joke!!! This has just destroyed my whole perseption on life! Please tell me their mixing is as bad as their production?

As for Caspa playing In For the Kill to earn his $$$.. that's a load of shit! Anyone can play it! He earns his $$$ for his dubs!!!

This whole thread makes me sick!

Caspa played a pretty sweet set tbh, and played to the crowd. He played a solid set of Dub police tunes (loads of caspa, trolley snatcha, subscape etc) + loads of VIPs and edits (like the katy b vocal, vip of emalkay - when I look at you etc) and 100% vinyl. last time we had an international play 100% vinyl was either LD or Tes La Rok, doesn't happen often anymore.

Crowd was fucking stupid. Was M-Cat and Steroid central. If it was my gig I'd of thrown out every drugged up idiot who felt the need to prance around like a fairy with their shirt off. lol. Definately wouldn't have been able to survive out in the crowd though... so ridiculously hot. That venue needs industrial fans upstairs for health and safety reasons... glad I could nip backstage and go out the back door when it got too hot.

If Borgore isn't your thing and you are wanting something a bit more forward thinking - Lvis1990 is playing down at Be next friday.
