Skream at Shambhala 2007

Post by jarman » Fri Mar 23, 2007 6:35 pm

For those not in North America, Shambhala is a 5 day festival in the heart of BC's Kootenay mountains, a pristine, paradisical coming together of party minded people. more info at www.shambhalamusicfestival.com.

Shambhala was the first place I ever heard grime or dubstep. That was summer 2005, and since then, it has taken over my eardrums and internal soundtrack.

It's about as close as any North American events come to what goes on regularly over across the pond, or so I've been told...haven't been there, can't truly make that call. The focus on sound and surroundings is unparalleled. It's my heaven on earth.

After last year's mind-blowing event, during some "what if" scenario discussions, I said that my ultimate dream producers to come would be Tipper and Skream. Tipper, as he's my oldest fav and spun ill sets at 2005, my first shambles. And Skream cause he is the newest, and most dominant, with a sound that the speaker systems at shambles seem to be designed for. I really held no hope of it happening, because it would be too good to be possible, you know?

Now, all the rumour mills on the shambhala website seem to be confirming that Skream will come. 100% guaranteed they say. I just can't believe it too fast, though, so i thought I might check with all you bass monsters on here, before i started getting insanely excited. Maybe skream could say yay or nay?

Whichever......if any of you can be in the area, I would most definately recommend stopping by that little piece of heaven. People's attitudes on here are, for the most part, very positive, friendly and fun, and I know everyone of ya would fit in like a glove.

so, what do you think? Am i just taking someone's BS hook, line, sinker? I sure hope not.......

I've heard too from various sources that Skream would be in the NW in the summer...Hope it's true.

One more BIG reason to be at Shambala this year, eh?

I'll be keepin' an eye out.

Nuff rumbings that it will prolly happen.

But that, as they say, is only the top of the iceberg for the pac-nw..

Yeh Taal Mala I saw your set it was sick. The only person I heard playing dubstep that year was myself out of the car.

2007 is going to be a year to remember. Skream.

Massive.

actually, I think it may have been you, taal. But I didn't know who you were at that point. That was my first Shambhala, and I was having one hell of a time taking it all in. I was totally unable to drive the 1500 some odd kilometers back up north to work. Pretty much forced my buddy to drive me being completely incapable of consciousness the whole 18hours........he was the one who wanted to arrive asap.

Best experience of my life. So pumped about this year......10th anniversary, it's going to be so crazy. I've also heard Tipper, DSL are confirmed, Z-Trip possible. But Skream would be the best set (or sets?) of the show. There would be no missing the show if he was a part of it. And recording it would be monumental! Some of my favorite sets are shambhala recorded sets.

'course a few other DS producers I'd rather see tearin' shit down at an event like this, but Skream would do.
