What would you like to see for 2011

Post by legend4ry » Sun Dec 05, 2010 12:56 am

A near year is coming up, so I am taking reasonable requests/ideas to improve things around here to make it a better place.

Please keep it in the means of this area of the forum, not forum-wide things (like getting new plugins installed)

I'll keep a rough check list - so i'll give you lot till the 3rd of Jan to give me ideas, i'll pick the most what are getting positive feedback and try and do them!

Also, any feedback on my moddin' would be grand too - as ive been modding a while around here now :).

Ive just got to do this, before half of the board says it..

make it happen :6:

1.)ummm maybe a wiki implementation for the starting dubstep sticky so they can be kept up to date or something so it's not all just on futures and the mod team on the upkeep duty

2.) i'd like to see some sort of way we can get the people who use the wip and finished thread and not partake in normal conversation to start being a part of the community, can't really think of any ideas off the top of my head though
3.) hmmmm maybe a monthly rundown stats wise of the most active topics on the board besides the stickies so if it's a bunch of the same ol, same ol consistently getting asked or a trend it can be covered in 1.)

a couple more mods just for this board would be cool too as a just in case

If someone donates web space, we get a wiki sorted out, easily.

Only way we can do the feedback threads like that is if we set up custom groups where people with X amount of posts get moved into - which would be a complete forum overhaul .. I personally would scrap them all together but they've become a part of the forum now.

I am actually working out something like this :)

And also am thinking of more mods - I mean, I am active enough most of the time but I do go away for weeks at a time sometimes haha :).

tbh at this point the wip has a place still sort of, the finished thread has just become dubs part 2

I think that a buy-sell forum would be pointless.

If you wanna give the DSF gang dibs before ebay or w/e, a thread will do - it doesn't have frequently enough around here to warrent it..

Same with hardware, as well! Most users here are software based and most of the hardware gang know their shit and again - single threads are fine.

i'll be a mod.

maybe a weekly topic of discussion regarding a specific technique or idea would be cool, although it would be alot of work to maintain...

I'm already working on some sort of regular competition with prizes, in talks with a few synth/sample pack companies :) .. stuff like this I am open to sorting out for everyone.

Finished works is to get feedback from other members of the production forum...Dubs is more about sharing your work, and it seems there are some expectations of giving out your tune there (320s, etc)

One thing I would suggest is an overhaul/reorganization of the Production Bible / WANT TO MAKE DUBSTEP? START HERE!!! thread; I wanted to find the thread with the free plugin pack that someone compiled, and I tried to find it using that, and ended up getting sent around in circles...it just seems really bloated, and so I can understand why a lot of the same questions pop up on the board when that thread is really hard to navigate...making a thread, typing up a question, and waiting for responses is MUCH easier, to be honest, so it's no wonder the same questions come up all the time.

It's not crucial, and it's a really boring job, so don't take it like I'm complaining. It's just something I noticed, and I see there's a LOT of complaining on this board about repeated questions, and I thought that might be one of the causes.

yea that's why i suggested a wiki format even just for that thread so relevant topics and links can be added/deleted/modified if the bb links change again like the last overhaul. plus it wouldn't just fall on a couple people's shoulders. it could also host some of the main board stuff too like the label list and all that, probably would be an easy server side install for dubway.
wtf ever happened to that whole dsf blog thing that someone on here was chatting with him about too come to think of it?
and people wonder why we're negative with the lack of follow through on here :6:

Precisely, the wip and finished threads force people to give feedback, check out how many threads there are in the dubs section with 0 replies and sweet FA views, i quite like the concept.

If there is going to be a sub forum of any kind, you should have one for the dj's.

Far too many decks and mixer questions etc popping up in production

What do you lot think about . "THE GOLDEN KNOWLEDGE" sub forum like, how the bible is layed out. in sections..

Each section is a (locked) thread, with information posted in posts, as opposed to each little bit of information in separate threads?

yea just thinking for the long haul and say when new products come out/get discontinued or when things need to be added/amended
plus i have a feeling with locked topics where questions couldn't be posted there would still be quite a bit of overflow here
edit: though if those threads when they pop up here are locked like the repeat offenders on the main board it could work out well and be organized
ie: the latest trend seems to be headphone threads
