What is your main production enemy?

Post by 3za » Tue Dec 07, 2010 11:58 pm

So what is the main thing that stop you from making music?

Mine is Internet, their is just to much shit on the internet. By nature I have to know everything, about everything its more of a curse, then a blessing. The Internet helps find lots of stuff out, but their is always more. I go on the computer, to just check e-mails, and shit. Then come across a word what I don't know google the word, end up on wikipedia, then spend fucking hours reading random stuff that has nothing to do with why I went on their in the first, them damn blue words on wikipedia :u:

So thats my rant over, your go now.

Laziness/Distractions/Lack of sticktoitiveness

I come up with lots of ideas but there's no way I'm going to actually sit down and work on most of them properly, all the way to completion, with all the time and effort they require

Also the ideas are all over the place and don't go together or make any sense at all

Thats a bitch. I spent about year just make 8bar loops because of this, I don't really know how I got over it. My mind set just switched one day, and I started finishing more things, and just got back the motivation, and passion I had. Just keep griding, and allow yourself to suck some times, I think thats who I got out of that rut.

believe me i could churn out tunes 24/7 for the dancefloor that would sound good and get some booties shaking, just no appeal to do that and it's not exactly hard to make formulaic stuff, i just find it really boring and not something i want to be known for

"concentration and memory issues" from medication I've been on in the past.
Plus, I really want to get a band together again. I miss the spontaneous 10 minute shoegaze jams :e:

you guys seriously get distracted while doing music??

that is actually the problem in my life. i fuck up so many things (not paying bills because i sit all day doing music, getting my GF upset because i'm regularly delayed for hours, miss uni....)

i get lost in music and nothing really can get me away from it when i feel it...

sometimes i don't feel what i'm doing. then i just immidatly stop producing and go on with (the rest of) my life.

motivation is definately my biggest obstacle but that just goes with being a shift worker. Waking up at a reaonable time and getting stuck into all the half done projects i started the night before can be a struggle sometimes. Really all it will take is a bit of organisation on my part i'll get there eventually -w-

Yeah man GF makes it hard to find time to sit down for a couple hours and write music. It's even worse at Uni because of the huge workload they like to pile on... plus my job... oh and can't forget eating and sleeping, partying, getting laid, friends, etc...
