His soundcloud is bloody ridiculous! All of his tracks average above 10k plays and are filled to the brim with comment. That's pretty crazy. I'm guessing he does this by spamming or is he that good?

Spammed me today. I have no interest in hearing his tunes. The thought that he spends time out of his own day to send me and other people messages telling them to listen to his music, when I know fine rightly he hasn't returned the favour for all the people he has been messaging is quite a pathetic way to promote your own music.

It's not impressive at all, from a success point of view. Anyone who thinks soundcloud stats are worth anything are deluded.

I'm a believer that musical success comes from getting your music to the right people (and them liking it). If you can get one person with a lot of power behind them to support you this is worth so much more then 1 person on soundcloud, even 10000 people on soundcloud. If a powerfull/influential person supports you, others will take note. Plus they have the power to get your music to other with power in the music game aswell. Getting the right people onboard is even more important than the music.

Everybody does what they do :l .. If he gets kicks out of it, and it makes him happy, why not? ..

I do what makes me happy.. Spamming doesn't make me happy, but if it did.. I'd do it.

Life is all about happiness ;D

Wise words man. Yeah I know SC stats aren't everything but imagine if your track had 20k hits in a week and over 999 raving fan comments. I'm sure you wouldn't mind that feeling.

My question is he got this popular by spamming? Or is he the Mt. Eden of soundcloud?

I think in 24 hours or so we should, once we have enough up for it, all just send the spam picture to cottonmouth at the same time haha.

make no mistake - 10k plays on the cloud can be viewed as impressive, just not when done via the spam route. top name artists need only post up a track, after which everyone who is following them because they enjoy their music pops a play or three, and wham bam you got 10k plays and a full bar o' comments in a weekend. these kind of artists don't need to ask you to listen to their track, you listen to it because you want to, and so did the other 10k folks. that's impressive. cottonmouth and his ilk are just stupid myspace/youtube continuations. let's not forget that we're in this to make good music, not to get plays on some website.

now please click through and listen to my tracks, will ya!

The only person I've ever muted on Soundcloud was him...regardless of how good your tracks are, if you spam me I'll go out of my way to avoid any of your music like the plague.

I also had a run in with him, after the 10th or so spam, he sent me a message calling me mate and asking to listen and feedback on his new melodic/ambient tune. When i listened to it, found it had 3 notes, CEG, repeated throughout with no chords or variation, and a stupid mid range lfo'd saw wave over the top, I got really annoyed. After a few words and some honest feedback, he came back to me, telling me I was a depressed intellectual, and a f*cking clueless w*nker. He then went on about how he was right because he had plays on BBC 1, an upcoming world tour, and was singed to 5 labels. I've never spoken to someone in music so egoistic and disillusioned, and to be called clueless by him I found pretty hilariously ironic.

I may sound like I went out of my way to hate, but I wouldn't have told him i thought his tune was weak if he hadn't have spammingly asked me to, especially with such insincerity. Nothing against him personally, might be a decent guy away from the music, and I don't want to sound childish 'telling' on him, just want to let people know my experience with him.

Depressed intellectual? What an arse, sounds just like Cokkie Monsta when someone dare to declare they dont like his beats either
