HELLFIRE MACHINA (Both Members) – New York

Image

Prior to the birth of this project in late 2008. Jody Shires and Tom Williams collectively had over 60 releases under their belts, along with production work for grammy nominated artists, numerous UK top ten remixes, 5 Breakspoll Awards, Best International Dj in the Spanish EDM awards 3 years running and a history in bass culture that is second to none. The year is now 2010, sonic exploration in the realm of bass fueled riddims is the primary mission for Hellfire Machina. With residencies at New York's legendary Club Love, Darkroom in Brooklyn and Psychadelic Radio in SF, it's no wonder these guys are in high demand.

Their weekly radio show on dubstepfm has gone from strength to strength and has helped push the awareness of bass music across the globe as well as providing a platform to hear the latest Hellfire creations first, often in early stages as they are delevoped in their now famously named studio Planet Twisted. Ending last year with A and R and project management credits for the Wu Tang 'Enter The Dubstep' album and a string of singles and remixes, they have hit the ground running in 2010. A fresh batch of releases due to hit the streets imminently, a new label project with techno legend Lenny Dee in the works as well as the next chapter in the infamous BASS FUELED MISCHIEF parties in their homebase of NYC.

They also just finished the Brand Nubian "Enter The Dubstep Vol.2 album set for a late December release date. With a furious touring schedule and all these releases. This is the age of the machine with Hellfire firmly at the controls...

With music released on over 7 labels and spanning 8 genres, Metaphase can engage and destroy a dance-floor at any tempo. Having released music since 2004 Frankie Metaphase has an impressive discography that counts over 15 releases, in both Vinyl and Digital formats.

Recently, Metaphase has seen great success on the Beatport charts with his 'Inevitable' remix released on Betamorph. His tracks have seen \support from the likes of Reid Speed, N-Type, Benny Page, and Babylon System to name a few. As a producer, Metaphase never rests. He is 1/2 of the group Trowa, recently signed to heavy-hitting labels Play Me, and West Bay Music. Currently collaborations are brewing with Smog producers DLX and Pawn, as well as remixes forthcoming on Section 8, and Betamorph in 2011.

Having 10 years of DJ'ing under his belt, holding a residency with Pure Filth LA, and headlining in over 10 Major U.S. cities, a crowded dance-floor is never the same after Metaphase is done with it!

After headlining at Space Age Pimpin' and Blindfire's "ALL UP IN IT" show at STL's The Complex, be sure for another smasher!

BOKATOR (1st STL Appearance) - Austin

Image

Ripping through your speakers and rattling your chest, Bokator comes at you like a ton of bricks. From the “Live Music Capital of the World”, Austin Texas, he spends his days and nights studying the ins and outs of bass, conquering it from every possible angle, and putting his own unique, ear bleeding twist on it.

With releases on 5 Hz Records, and the well respected Stupid Fly Records, and releases forthcoming has a plethora of labels including: Betamorph, Double Drop, Plush, & Dub Cartel & many more... this artist is not one to be overlooked.

Bokator has played with the likes of Excision & Borgore, has a UK tour planned for next May, along with his upcoming birthday bash of his own in late january with Mark Instinct, who is the one that turned FurtherSound onto this 21 year old badman last year.

Teaming up with the FurtherSound family, it would be wise to keep an ear open for the filthy fresh sounds of Bokator.

RUCKUS – Chicago

Image

Huge summer festivals? Check. Massive sold out shows? Check. Faces melted across the USA Check. Being one of Chicago biggest Dubslingers for years now? Check. Ruckus AKA Charlie Bro has been a busy man in 2010. As many of you may know, Ruckus started as a drum and bass DJ.
In early 2008 the pulsating sounds of dubstep grabbed ahold of him the same way it did so many of us and it's been no turning back since. Not only has he been tearing up the Dj circuit with his ridiculous DJ skills, 2010 has also allowed for ventures into the business side of bass music.

Ruckus holds down the A&R duties of 2 major North America dubstep labels: Betamorph's drumstep venture and all aspects of FurtherSound. High lights so far include Ruckus destroying the Red Bull stage at the inaugural North Coast Music Fest in front of thousands of screaming bass heads and playing the first ever sold out Booty Halloween along side DJ Dara and Eskmo. In 2010 he has also shared the stage with a "who's who" list of global talent including Daedlus, The Gaslamp Killer, 12th Planet, Joe Nice, Rastatronics, Ginz, Metaphase, HULK, Mark Instinct, Claw, Nameloc, Richie August, Dara, Borgore, Bombaman, Eliot Lipp and Midnight Conspiracy.

Ruckus is also involved in the founding of a new super ground of Chicago talent called Tripp Syndicate. Tripp Syndicate features the roaring bass of Nameloc, the terrifying mic ripping of MC Anti and the diabolical DJ skills of Ruckus ripping on 4 decks. What's next for this multitalented man you ask? Be on the look out for more insane events with an ever growing crowd of fans. As a new generation of bass monsters arises and comes to dominace Ruckus will be right there at the top, maintaining a professional approach while still partying with the best of them. With all these things already accomplished in 2010 the bar has been set pretty high for 2011 - but don't worry, Ruckus won't let you down.

SECOND ROOM ELECTRO + DRUM & BASS

DJ’s

NOAH (Electro) – St. Louis

Image

NOAH has been pushing electro, in the underground and above, since before there was a section devoted to it in Mixmag, fle sharing, or the blogosphere. As an OZ Nightclub VIP resident from 2005-2008 he introduced St. Louis electronic music fans to many of the artists that have since shaped the electro house genre that so many of us love today.

His opening sets for St. Louis legend Gary Mac have provided the appetizer to some of the most delicious nights the St. Louis after-hours scene has lived through. He closed the HARD HAUNTED MANSION after party in Los Angeles in 2008 and the following year played two sets at Miami's Winter Music Conference as well as shows in Chicago, Dallas, San Antonio, Memphis, Detroit, and many more in his home city of St. Louis.

The tracks he drops live, and at the marathon after-hour sets he's become known for are big, flthy, crunchy, glitchy tunes that mix songs you love with electro smashers that are as fun to sweat to on the dance foor as they are to shake to at the house party you've wound up in the middle of at 5AM.

TWO TONE & BRANDON S (Drum & Bass) - St. Louis / Chicago

First D&B Tag Team Performance in 10 years!

Two Tone is a drum and bass, hip-hop, turntablism artist that really knows how to rock the spot! He has played all over the midwest, as well as the U.S, blowing speakers and crushing dancefloors with an interesting array of dirty basslines, aggresive lyrics, and sick scratch skills. Mix that cunning creativity and passion for the music with natural born style and you've got Two Tone.

Originally from Missouri, Two Tone grew up and eventually moved to Saint louis where he got more involved with the djing side of the scene as opposed to the dancing. After playing parties for promoters such as LEO PRODUCTIONS,SUPERSTARS OF LOVE, THAT GIRL, AND BAM, he was launched into my first residency at Club Cheetah where he started playing with larger names such as Nigel Richards, Frankie Bones, DRC and Heather Hart, which tightened up his skills with weekly events. It was soon after this that NMEZEE came on board and started playing hip-hop and doing turntablism, and after a couple of years the HERBAL ASSASSINS became official floor wreckers in the STL. Being backed by STREETSONIC PRODUCTIONS and VITAMIN E, they were playing every party to hit the city, coming with the fresh sounds time and time again. But as you all know life happens and they both moved away to different places and parted ways in 2004, and have started elsewhere. NMEZEE is now in Kansas City running a production company and is part owner of RIGGZ RECORDINGZ, and Two Tone is back in STL holdin' it down.

Brandon S., is the C.E.O., Talent Manager, Promotion Coordinator and Booking Agent for FurtherSound Artist Management. FurtherSound was originally started in mid-2000, by longtime friend from Chicago, DJ Ciro. In 2000, Brandon joined Ciro to push the sounds of the major D&B movement of the time.

Brandon has been spinning records since he was 16 years old, and was promoting and coordinating small to full scale raves by the time he was 17. His first major party, called “Seasons” in January of 1998 had well over 1500 people with the main room focusing on D&B, and the second being divided by mixed genres. You could find him selling his own mixtapes and CD’s at parties all over the Midwest. His first cassette entitled “DarkerSideOfBass”, circa 1999, sold over two thousand units in straight hand to hand sales. He has several other mixes, and even appeared on the now famous Chicago mixtape compilation, “The Jungle Book 3″.

This was the very start for this young, up and coming entrepreneur.

In the last 13 years, he has toured in Europe (2002), and has shared the decks, stages and venues with everyone from DJ’s and bands all across america. Andy C., Ed Rush & Optical, Grooverider, Stakka, Rahzel, Rusko, Reso, Little Dragon, Amon Tobin, Kid Koala and KJ Sawka is a small list of names that goes on and on. His background in music ranges from D&B, Electro, Funk, Soul, Industrial, New Wave, Dubstep, Hip Hop, Classics and more, making him one of the more versatile DJ’s in Chicago.

As a promoter, he has personally booked virtually every well known Chicago D&B DJ, as well as helping to bring first time appearances to Chicago such as the ViRam Tour in 2005, Keaton & Hive, Adam F, Rusko, Reso, Mark Instinct & RSK, just to name a few. He also brought the appearances of the amazing indie band from Sweden, Little Dragon, not only for their first Chicago appearance in July 2009, but also helped with a follow up show for the band in front of a maximum capacity crowd at the venue known as “Double Door” in November 2009 for the club’s official 15th year anniversary.

Brandon took FurtherSound to another platform in July of 2009, taking over full responsibility of the company, while making it a much broader platform for other DJ’s & Producers. FurtherSound is currently focusing on the roaring Dubstep movement that has taken place the last several years. Brandon and the company he now built does booking for it’s 20 impressive artists, while working with other promoters all over the world. He has signed every FurtherSound artist to the roster, boasting DJ’s and Producers from all over the United States. He also promotes and hosts FurtherSound events at Chicago’s Kinetic Playground, Double Door, Bottom Lounge, Subterranean & many more…

Brandon has just taken on role role as North American A&R for Dubsaw Recordings. With an already impressive crew of talent that includes Culprate, KOAN Sounds, Suspect, Switch Dubs, Barbarix, Rakoon, Xzist, Pkay, Funt Case, Flux Pavilion, Point.blank, Physical, Disonata, Brainpain, Wachs Lyrical, Gravity, Mr Boogie, Dismantle, Droid Sector, Brandon S & Neumann… Things are gonna be huge for 2011, after an already successful 2010. Brandon will be helping Pkay and Xzist in earmarking tracks for the emerging North American Dubstep artists that blend with the Dubsaw sound.

Turning 31 years young in January 2011, there seems to be no stopping this already accomplished individual. 2010 marked a new decade for all of us, and FurtherSound is already taking it to the next level. With FurtherSound reaching it’s 10 year anniversary this past July, be on the lookout for large shows, major talent signings and DJ tours all over the world for FurtherSound’s respective artists.
