More MP3 releases please.

One of the aspects of the pay for MP3 is that the artist can guarantee their music is reaching out to markets with less access to 12 inch releases. Would you rather a market never get a hold of a tune and thus run the risk that your music isn't played out OR make that music easily available for DJ's?

Bleep and other sites have been a bit slow lately with mp3 releases so I've been wondering what's going on there.

I have tons of bits to add to GetDarker mp3 store.

I think bleep etc will be updated anytime soon, there's lots of bits on mp3 that are going to be let off.

I just spent £90 on grime/dubstep mp3s on dublate and bleep having recently got serato. Gonna pick up those Macabre bits on getdarker this weekend. Didn't realise the mp3s through itunes don't work with serato so they aint getting anymore purchases unless someone knows an easy way to get round the protection? Any more mp3s independent sites can offer will get bought.

Maybe re-encode it yourself or suttin? That should work...

Yeah I have tried re-encoding through itunes but it comes up with a box saying the files are protected and it can't be done. The only solution I can think of is to record them into a sound editing program and save them as mp3s but that is long. Was hoping someone knew some other way of doing this without having to do it that way??

Have got a mac and just tried opening some protected mp4s bought from itunes in audacity in an attempt to convert them through that. Audacity opens them but they don't play properly due to the protection on the AAC file that itunes sells and won't convert to mp3 using the lame encoder. Seems the only way round it is to record each track bought through the line in which is gonna take ages if you have bought loads (like me). If anyone knows any other way round this I would most appreciate your knowledge..

We are even expanding to have digital only releases, alongside the vinyl ones.

We get sent alot of good tunes and cant release them all, this is what the digital arm will be for, no point in seeing these pieces of music get left behind...

Additech had shit loads when I was looking earlier in the week.

My preference - uncompressed audio (for a premium) like Beatport does.

Still buying cratefulls of vinyl every month though...

If you buy something on iTunes.... you can burn it to an audio CD in redbook audio format. This basically removes the copy protection.... it makes it an audio cd that can be played in any audio cd player. Then you can just rip the tracks as mp3's like you would any other cd.

iTunes MP3's are a waste of time to be honest. That low quality wouldn't even be allowed on the illegal sites. Ridiculous.

I believe the format that iTunes uses is 192kbps Variable AAC files. Which use the mp4 codec.

you have to burn them as an audio cd (you can burn it straight from iTunes) and then re-rip them as mp3s. kind of a pain, but then you have a cd of the tunes you can listen to in the car to familiarize yourself with em...

iTunes are AAC encoded, and a 128 AAC sounds as good or better as a 192 mp3.

not low quality AT ALL. in fact, it was a sound engineer who told me to encode music to AAC (this is more for my listening music collection, not stuff i encode for djing) rather than mp3 because it sounds so much better. i concur.
