Re: Chippy Derpstep WIP Feed back plsthnx
so shall i tell you what i really think or should i tell you what you want to hear?
Re: Chippy Derpstep WIP Feed back plsthnx
definitely what you really think but with embellishments that make for a good critique. if you would be so inclined
Re: Chippy Derpstep WIP Feed back plsthnx
well the drums are okay... but i think there is way too many elements in the song and way too many high pitched melodies which just drown out everything else. it sounds like sonic after 5 grams of coke. sometimes less is more.
listen to this masterpiece by ben klock:

he lets each element of the track breath on its own and he doesn't go over the top with ridiculous melodies.

that had to be one of the most boring drawn out pieces ive ever heard. its repetitive and honestly doesnt progress at all. i most certainly would not call it a masterpiece. although i do agree that the highs on my piece are a bit much. im used to orchestrated music where layers and harmony are considered a good thing
Re: Chippy Derpstep WIP Feed back plsthnx
this is dance music not chopin. obviously that beat is repetitive because it's a dj tool, it's designed to be mixed with other tracks (although i would still listen to it on it's own for the entirety since it's utterly dope)
but yeah you gotta think to yourself, what is my music actually designed to be? is it designed for a club where people will dance to it, or is it designed for home listening? can you honestly see yourself dancing to your tune? i can imagine it killing the dancefloor dead

dance music cant be intelligent? the drums obviously need to be easily mixd but the rest of the music shouldnt be constrained by minimalistic ideas.
haha you and i must go to very different clubs cus most of the tunes i hear are filthy and very hard hitting. damn near melts your skin off. of course this wouldnt be possible to obtain this incredibly intense style without the contrast of pieces like ben klock's.
