Good sample packs with sub bass samples etc

Post by wideboy » Thu Dec 30, 2010 6:33 pm

Been looking to buy some sample packs for my productions, but i am in doubt about which to choose. Most of the sample packs i find contains loads of loops which i dont need at all and therefore dont want to pay for. Ideally id like something with just a SHITLOAD of drum/perc/wierd sounds and some bass samples aswell .. any ideas ? Or do i need to buy the ones with loops? :?

sub bass is usually just a sine wave. might as well make your own.

and for sample packs... you see that thread at the top that says want to make dubstep, start here?

You can make gorgeous powerful subs with pretty much any synth. What DAW are you using?
If your dead set on buying something id fuck off the sample pack idea you might get a couple of samples but your gonna have to Re use them
Id have a look at rob papens sub boom bass £89 or search for itchy synths theres a freeware pack for dnb/dubstep that has a really nice sub synth the rest are a bit sketchy though
Bit really its not needed i use fl and the 3xosc is all i use for subs now

i am very well aware that a sub usually is just a sine wave, but whenever i try to make it i dont think the result is optimal not even if i put other waves and lowpass for more harmonics.. i just cant figure out how to make it so full sounding and i think alot of sub bass samples has that extra punch.

and yeah i checked out the production bible lots of times but thats a list of free sampling sites :) and i id like to invest in some big quality packs.

thanks tho! nice mix u got going in ur sig

i noticed adding a touch of reverb really helps with getting a fuller, punchier sub
and distortion obviously heh

Conpression and distortion, id maybe use a sample to layer a kick but for actual basslines cant miss the freedom of a synth

drums pack - thomas penton, vengeance, goldbaby for starters
weird shit - freesound.org, the dsf sampleswap (see sig), doa sample swap http://www.darkbeats.com/sampleswap , i also use loads of old akai sample discs or foley or odd sample cds/dvds otherwise a quality field recorder or a nice set of mics and a pre work wonders
