speed change with note change
Hey everyone, i was wondering if anyone familiar with sampling could help me out. When I change the note of the sample, the speed the sample plays back at changes as well. How can i get around this speed change and just have it play at a different note? I'm stumped.
I'm using Ableton but i can get other programs if I need to

TImestretch and pitch correct/restore, should be standard on your sampler.

Or you have to use a granulizer, which cuts the sample into little chunks and stretches all of those individually so it stays the same length, how ever it can result in a very choppy sound...

Why would you do that, when you could just timestretch with less-damaging computing, sensibly? Granulizer is a fancy effect, I dont see it as a viable means stretching things out though, but by all means, Im probably using it wrong...antics wrote:Or you have to use a granulizer, which cuts the sample into little chunks and stretches all of those individually so it stays the same length, how ever it can result in a very choppy sound...

Re: speed change with note change
It's not possible to timestretch/preserve length in the Ableton Simpler/Sampler but what you could do is load the sample into 12 different slots in a track in session view, transpose them accordingly (make sure warping is on), and then assign each clip to a different MIDI note.
That way you would have the same sample at different pitches while maintaining the same length and be able to play them from a midi keyboard or the piano roll.
Also, depending on what the source sample is you could play around with the looping options in Sampler to make the samples sustain longer.

Yeah it's one of the biggest feature request for the Ableton Sampler. I used to wish for it too but now I don't even miss it at all. I love resampling synths and working with them in Sampler. I just make sure I bounce down a really long note so I don't have to worry about it.decklyn wrote:really? there is no simpler way to do it in ableton?

I've never used Kontakt but I'm pretty sure it timestretches.
