Circle VST

Post by paravrais » Sat Jan 01, 2011 1:10 pm

Right so I've wanted this VST for a loooong time now. Especially seeings as I've been rewiring reason into ableton for ages but don't actually have any synths in ableton aside from a few freeware effects because I am very poor lol. Reason is good, don't get me wrong I love the workflow and for simple noises it does the job but there are certain types of complex sound that take FOREVER in reason that i've managed to make in 5 minutes when using demos of other synths in the past and I feel like it's kind holding me back a little on certain types of tune. Now Xmas has come and gone I actually have a bit of spare cash to spend on production toys and circle is the first thing that came to mind.

The problem is, the website still says it has an expired certificate when trying to access the store from the main page. Does anyone know of any other sources where you can buy circle or if it's available in a boxed format? I've tried searching all over the place to no avail so my hopes aren't high buy I thought I would ask here before giving up completely.

I suppose I could always buy alchemy instead but my heart was kind of set on circle...plus circle is cheaper 0.o

73 quid?!? That seems sketchy to me, does anyone have personal experience of ordering from this site? Or better yet has anyone bought circle here??

I'm too self righteous for that XD if I started pirating things then I wouldn't get to tell other people off for pirating and I wouldn't get to feel smug as I did it.

But being a hypocrite is even more fun :6:

I don't see any reason to crack software, just buy that shit, or use a nearly as good bit of freeware.

Okay Circle heads... just think zebra back in the whispery recesses of your thoughts. Really really amazing synth.

i like them both. Circles Workflow is amazing and encourages to do wired things. So i used it mostly for kind of noisy bleeps and messy sounds in general. Zebra neads more focus but i gives so many control over subtle nuances of the sound. For a carefully crafted pad i would go for zebra, if I just want to play around to find something crazy i'd prefer circle.

Seems a lot like Massive. From the screenshots, the envelope section seems to be a bit nicer. Looks like you can actually shape the attack and decay. I'll have to try out the demo.

Coming to the conclusion that Zebra is unmatchced... excellent sound (def among the best of the best) and like you said, the most (subtle or otherwise) sound shaping possibilities. Maybe something like alchemy seems like it has the most sound shaping possibilities, but I'm not sure that they are actually useful or sound particularly good :6: Will admit Zebra's interface is less than easy to work with, but that appears to be the price you pay for that level of flexibility and control.

Just demoing it now, so maybe my opinions will change... but I am thoroughly blown away at this point. I tried Circle out a while ago, and felt that it was comparable to Massive, yeah, maybe with better envelops.

I like using many different synths as each insprires me to make sounds in a certain direktion, but if I had to stick with just one it would zebra without a doubt. The oscillators alone give you so much possibilities and then there are the sweet sounding filters and much more. But the workflow is more complicated in comparison to things like circle a fabfilter twin. With zebra you have to know somehow where you want to go and theres no limit in what you can archieve, with the others it's sometimes just fun to play around and come up with something surprising. I like both ways.

haha, totally opposite to that last part for me. :) I'm so lost in zebra, that I'm constantly stumbling across crazy ways to subtly fuck with the sound. Just getting the most evolving dynamic tones, w/o using modulators!

Circle, like I said was just like Massive for me, no secrets. Just the sound of Zebra though, and the potential... why do I keep on about Zebra in a Circle thread? Circle is an awesome synth.

I prefer Circle to Massive. purely because the of the GUI. I'm like that.

I just work better with it. it's kind of become of "standard synth".
