Re: Outlook 2011 Ninja Roll Call
Stayed in an apartment. I think last year was probably the first year I might not have minded staying in the campsite.
Time your food trips, was severe shortage of places to get food, so mahoosive queues.
Get (relatively) fit before you go, there was quite a lot of walking involved.
Bring a mask or scarf or hanky of some sort, just in case they don't manage to fix the dust problem. Double up protection on your records if you plan on bringing any.
Careful with carrying drugs into Croatia.
Book flights early, try to fly direct to Pula. Everywhere else is looooooooong.

Re: Outlook 2011 Ninja Roll Call
cool, some handy tips!
What's the low down with scoring up on-site? I would never take shit through an airport! Even though I did by accident the last 2 times I've been away :/
Also, is Stinjin walking Distance from the fort I presume? Looks it on the Google maps

I flew into Venice which is the furthest away and had a blast with other people getting smashed on the long journey, was hilarious and made some friends for the whole of the week. Drugs I totally agree with and I ain't fit at all and the walking wasn't so bad, a bit boring but trips in the middles of the night with 20 other wasted peeps in the pitch black was hilarious.kay wrote:Stayed in an apartment. Stinjin is about less than 5 mins to the camp site and 10 mins to the fort. No biggie, gets a bit tedious walking back and forth for a whole week but its only 10 minutes innit, only problem I had was the darkness (hence the torch tip) and the fact there are some right mental people on the roads at that time. I remember after the first night at the fest, me and my lass walking back and some car came speeding down the dust roads and was literally less than a metre away from knocking two girls over but he skidded and flipped into a ditch...was actually horrific, the girls screams just pierced your ears. Hopefully that won't happen again.
Re: Outlook 2011 Ninja Roll Call
also, what's the surrounding area like? Considering staying there for a few days after the festival
Re: Outlook 2011 Ninja Roll Call
Place is gorgeous, seriously, really quiet! If your after excitement then it probably won't be your thing but if you just wanna chill with mates, camp and go in the sea etc then it'd be perfect.
Re: Outlook 2011 Ninja Roll Call
The situation was pretty desperate last year till Friday. After that it was fine.
Stinjan is definitely within walking distance, probably about 20-30min. It's quite a nice walk when you're taking it easy or completely drunk. Bit of a mission when you're rushing for the bloody boats in the afternoon. Was joking slightly about needing to be fit, most people from the UK should be used to that amount of walking.
My bus from Trieste was fairly sober. People were nice though.
There's a nearby town (F-something) that's a taxi ride away. More apartments and restaurants there if you want to be slightly further away from the site. I never got as far as that.
I was supposed to stay around for a couple days after the festival to have a look around but had to cut my trip short for work.

Re: Outlook 2011 Ninja Roll Call
yeah when I go on holiday I like to mong the fuck out on a beach

Re: Outlook 2011 Ninja Roll Call
I think that was the only thing I missed doing last year - just chilling on the beach away from the crowds for a bit.
Re: Outlook 2011 Ninja Roll Call
I went to Fazana, me and the girl took a nice long walk along the coast all the way to there and was a great walk and a really nice fishing town, was class! Got to chill away from all the ravers for a bit. Took about 40 mins to walk.
Re: Outlook 2011 Ninja Roll Call
think i'm gonna buy a pair just so i have 'em. i still have no idea what i'm going to be doing at that time but i'd sure as fuck regret it if i'd be around and couldn't get my paws on a ticket.
i camped last year, definitely going for an apartment this year. first off because camping as press was a total newbie nightmare, secondly because i'd like some sleep and hygiene for a change. i duno, with music and debauchery going from noon to 4 am and people making a ruckus in the campsite again at 10 am, i was totally fucked by sunday. having an actual bed to sleep in would alleviate it a bit methinks.
