Studio Monitor question (KRK RP8 G2)

Post by ShadyBrady6 » Sun Jan 09, 2011 2:49 pm

Hello, I have the KRK RP8 G2 studio monitors and I had read the owners manual on setting up the system Volume. It says By preset the Volume settings are +6db. The speakers came set at +0db and they have the ability to be set from -30db all the way to +6db. After reading the manual im guessing they should be set at +6db witch is all the way up. It says the only reason they should be altered is if you're using them in a surround sound system and you would need to adjust. However, I feel that these speakers are just too loud set at +6db. Also i don't want to risk blowing the speakers because of an accidental raise too high in volume. Can i keep these speakers set at lets say +3db just to be on the safe side? or does that effect the performance? What volume setting on the back of the speakers do you guys recommend?

Sorry these are my first pair of studio monitors and im new to setting these things up. Thanks in advance

by no means do they have to be at +6db
that knob is to adjust them to your room and a comfortable max level
the rest of your vol adjustment should be done from your soundcard
