which commercial (or otherwise generally available) drum kit sample packs do you rely upon most heavily?

apologies if this thread has been done before.

I have one sample pack which I never use and don't even know how it ended up on my computer :s, the rest of my samples come from the sample swap/sample comps/ freesounds/home recording etc

I have a sample folder of practically every drum machine so I just pick and choose which would ideally sound best for that particular song

I quite like the J Dilla and 9th Wonder kits that are floating about, some excellent kicks, snares and claps for dubstep.

the kits that come with Battery are amazing. Lately I've been using collision in ableton, being able to control the actual hit is much more powerful than tweaking after the fact for certain things, although snares are basically impossible to synthesize.

Vengeance Essential series are by far the best drum kits in my book. Then again, I mainly produce industrial / hardcore acid atm. I just come here for the production tricks ;)

its so hard to find a good sample pack of drums, I have a SHIT TON of drums (most from this forums sample swap I think) but thats cause very very few of the drum hits are actually worth using

but i used to use vengeance all the time and still use it for kick drums

will check out some of the other suggestions

P.S. datsik/excision/skream/other godly producers who troll the forum please reply to this thread! knowing where you get your usual drum sounds will not allow me to sound like you don't worry :D:

Skream has been known to use default drums (like many others!). Datsik and them lot use them vengeance techno drums and mix n match them with about 20 distortion units on them :)

you were using the right ones, just learn how to layer your hits and tune them
very rarely you'll find producers using just stock bits from a pack not layered (unless you want that mt eden flstudio stock snare)

Vengeance Essential Club Sounds 1 & 2, Thomas Penton & Goldbaby for me too with Addictive Drums when I want more real kit sounds.

As I layer, eq & process my hits for each tune I bounce them out and have quite a nice little library building up of straight up smacking drums...maybe I'll share some of them some day

i like my drum samples to sound real, and the best ones i've found are from equipped music via loopmasters.

for techy drums i like thomas penton.

incidentally, anybody know where i can get a really good open snare sound? a good punchy one, a real good thok! or if you have such a sample...
