How do you keep up?

Post by Psychodelic » Sun Jan 09, 2011 6:00 pm

I'm curious as to what you guys do/what sites you use to keep up with releases/promos etc (besides this one, of course). I've been looking around for a long time but I haven't really found too many sites/blogs worth frequenting.. I'd hate to be missing out on releases/free tracks. So yeah, what sites etc do you guys use to keep tabs on what's going on in the dubstep world? :dubstep rave:

I'd say you could spend most of your time every single day trying to stay up on all the new music that comes out these days and still be behind. Music blogs are where it's at if you ask me. Here's the big dsf list.

Also, find some labels that you like, and listen to everything that they release. You'll often find new artists that you'll like.

Get sent all the lists from the distributors that my local record store deals with.

and go through all the records that are in the store anyway.

plus DSF, twitter, talking to mates, listening to radio shows etc.

Check :

Juno twice a week
Chemical twice a week
DSF pretty much daily.
Check out mixes and podcasts from labels/artists I like
Talk to mates both face to face and on teh F@cebuukZ
Go to my record shop at least once a month and ask the dude what he's got forthcoming.

It still isn't working 100%. Each month crucial releases are missed :) .

The Music & Releases section on here, Juno, Chemical, a couple of blogs, Podcasts from labels I like, the Mixes section, Dubs section, asking other DJs "WTF IS THIS MANG", and Local shop.

I personally put most of my trust into certain online stores. For Dubstep I listen to every release on Boomkat, every monday. I Tend to find they cater for my tastes almost perfectly, and i never have to wade through hours of midrange noise!
