load mp3's in logic's EXS24

Post by RmoniK » Mon Feb 21, 2011 7:05 pm

So i download this load of free samples, without noticing they are in mp3 format. Is there a way to load them in the EXS24 sampler? I'm getting pretty desperate. Also, how do i apply inserts to one sample at a time?

Thanks!

open up an instance of exs 24 in logic, and click on the edit button on the top right hand side of it. then find the samples in the browser in logic and simply drag and drop them to the exs 24 edit window. then just a case of changing the trigger keys and pitch settings etc depending on what your trying to achieve.

the only way i know to process samples differently in the same instance of exs 24 is to select a multi output instance of exs 24 when you create it (in the menu go to EXS 24 then choose multi out instead of stereo) then simply assign the samples to different out puts in the edit window. you will then have to link auxiliary channels in the mixer to the outputs of the exs 24 for each seperate sample you want to process separately.

there are loads of tutorials on youtube about EXS 24 and these sorts of things, worth watching them to understand the basics and cool things you can do with it

I might be wrong on this, but it's worth a try. If you go to the audio bin and click add, you can add your mp3s that way, and I know depending on what type of file it is, logic converts it. So there's a chance it'll convert your mp3s to wav or aiff (depending on your settings). like I said, not sure if it'll actually convert them or not, but once they're in the bin you can just add them to the exs24 from there, or drag them into the timeline, select all, right click and select convert to new sampler instrument.

oh sorry haha i didnt realise exs 24 didnt support mp3, never ran into that problem myself, guess i just dont have any mp3 samples or just by chance ive never tried to use one lol as for converting them audacity can save them as wavs and such but as far as i know you can only do them one at a time so no good if you need to convert a shit load of them

just drop the mp3 into logic straight up and logic should convert it to .aiff format and then just export it. it would take forever depending on how many mp3 samples you have but its simple

you really dont even have to export them just drop the load into an audio track in logic and drag them from there into the edit window. should work fine.
