vinyl decks problem
seemed as good a place as any to post this
Bought a couple of Gemini Tt-02 Mk2 turntables recently, and am having a problem whereby both decks aren't playing records at the correct speed, (this isn't a case of playing incorrectly at 33 or 45). All tracks are coming out slightly under tempo.
Any suggestions?

Re: vinyl decks problem
If its anything like the 1210 then you can take off the platter and reach the pitch gain knob (on 1210 its clearly labeled) but I have absolutely no experience with the deck you have.
I fixed the same problem on my 1210s by tweaking the pitch gain...see if you can find it

Re: vinyl decks problem
Have you tried throwing them in the bin?
Haha, jokes - do what these guys said.

Re: vinyl decks problem
pitch may need to be calibrated or if you drag your finger a ton (or just hard) could be a weakened motor.
Re: vinyl decks problem
debating throwing them in the bin!
can't seem to work out how to calibrate pitch. records are playing fine with pitch shift +6, ridiculous to have to do this all the time though!

how old are the turntables? +6 is crazy if you're talking pitch needing to be calibrated. Usually you're talking years for that much drift
Sounds to me like your motor may be weakened for some reason than drifted pitch
Re: vinyl decks problem
DId they incrementally get worse? Was it sudden? Did you buy 'em like that?
Were they new or used?
If it was sudden, it was probably some random piece that died in the middle, and it's unlikely you'll get it fixed for cheap. If it's incremental, even quickly, it's probably something to do with the pitch or motor deteriorating.

Re: vinyl decks problem
so best course of action seems to be to take them in somewhere to get looked at?
Re: vinyl decks problem
Depends on what I asked, the alternative being throwing them away.my_war wrote:so best course of action seems to be to take them in somewhere to get looked at?
Re: vinyl decks problem
They were used, and the problem was noticable right away. Others have said it may be a motor problem.hayze99 wrote:DId they incrementally get worse? Was it sudden? Did you buy 'em like that?

Re: vinyl decks problem
I had similar problem with Gemini deck, well it just stopped changing pitch at all. I just bought a new deck.
I guess that's not much help
or very interesting

Re: vinyl decks problem
I have gemini PT1000's Mk2s and one of the decks is naturally pitched down. you have to have it at +1.8 to get the actual 0% pitch
its long

Re: vinyl decks problem
If you're bothered, take em to a technician and try and get them fixed; bonus if you can get the seller to foot the bill. I got lucky and managed to sort that scenario out, as I had the exact same problem. The bill was 80 quid, for a rather menial problem, but as I said, I got the seller to foot the bill. Might not be worth travelling about with them and then getting a gargantuan bill.my_war wrote:They were used, and the problem was noticable right away.
