Pooh pooing another rival Google Android's Honeycomb operating system, Jobs said they had only 100 apps to show on it. In contrast, Apple iPad had 65,000 apps just for photography alone

Really just get a real touchscreen tablet pc, run millions of full programs on it not just "apps". Even install the DAW of your choice with VST support if you want. Apples just a label, they aren't anything special. If you want osx, vmware is perfect, alt+tabbing XP and OSX these days in full screen with no issues and no proprietary crap.

to be fair the apple touch screen/gyro is unfuckable with. Nothing pc or otherwise really compares..... and if you're buying anything apple (outside of a mac book which dubstep fans seem to buy in droves for some reason), they're insanely reliable.

I've got both a mac and pc and use them for different things, work on my mac, play on my pc. Could do both on either, neither is really superior if you know how to use a computer and how not to abuse one.

Tablet pcs have been around for years and haven't exactly been a smash hit. The os isn't really designed for touch either.

I just see things like the ipad being useful for emails, internet, videos, facebook, ebooks,the odd letter or spreadsheet etc.

Apple have clearly done well and made a good product. Just look at all the copycat devices being released this year.

If you can't see an ipad or similar being useful for you then you don't have to buy one.

I could see my self buying one to browse the internet in bed, as my phones screen is a bit small.

Sadly I can't spend my money so frivilously

Yeah I'm not a Mac hater at all, that's just my opinion because most people will buy it because of the marketing and not even consider much cheaper alternatives that could be just as good or better. Like pkay said, if you know what you're doing they're equal. Except for software that's not cross platform of course, but these days there are alternatives for everything and extremely stable emulation.

I'm just not a fan of how Apple makes things so proprietary. I can understand the argument that it helps stability, but again a lot of stability problems are user error. Propellerheads use the same argument against VST.

Steve Jobs' latest remarks against Blu-ray made him come off a bit badly IMO, basically saying Itunes will defeat Blu-ray.

I like my older Macs but I haven't been tempted by any of their products in the last few years tbh, though I've used several. In regards to the touchscreens, I haven't had any problems with touchscreens on other tablets, but I like those rollup rubber usb keyboards anyway for anything other than casual use. Hell I still prefer my QWERTY phone over the touchscreen one. It's mostly preference I think, I prefer feeling the response of keys.

i like the look of the motorola xoom, you actually get your money's worth in terms of computing horsepower..
