Re: Nottingham Heads
Oh My Gosh looks like a clothes shop now from what I saw passing it on the bus the other day…
Mushi Mushi is ok, he is a safe guy but he makes most of his money selling off Discogs…. He has got a ridiculous amouth of decent rare vinyls, but they are all in storage….. the racks in the shop are pretty disappointing although last time I was in there was a Laundstrum vinyl from really back in the day on some Nordic label…. So there is some good stuff…. I know for a fact he bought, I would say, the majority of Selectadisc’s stock when they went under… check out his discog, it has got everything they have listed….
Not even many dig spots either anymore here….. Nottingham vinyl going down the pan…. I spoke to PR the other day and they think vinyl is going to completely die soon…. It seems Dubstep is the only vinyl heavy genre nowadays…..no one else seem to care about it anymore really…..there are aonly a couple of plant in this country and the prices are ridiculous nowadays…. Unless you got P&D, (which is crap terms for the label and therefore the artists) you haven’t got a chance of manufacturing vinyl consistently on a regular basis….that, or you are mega rich….
P&D distributors run the scene now, they are like the records labels label….they decide what the labels put out…. Shame that the industry is now ran buy a handful of companies now…. it is like the independent labels nowadays are just branches of these distribution companies, which in turn makes them not independent, they are just like any other label that got swallowed up by the majors back in the day…..
Think about it….. SRD, ST, CARGO etc they own underground independent music in this country….
Don’t know where that rant came from…. Bit off topic really…. Sorry! The top bit is relevant though!
