AT a 16+ event, i got asked for Flo Rida. Now I'm not the most experienced DJ going having only played a few events but im sure thats not right when the flyer said 'Drum and Bass/Dubstep/Grime'
asked to play anything by "tinie tempah" is disgraceful to me aswell
heres some more that have angered me alot:
Kesha - tic toc
that shitty mr postman dubstep thing
the infamous siera leone
"have u got any good dub?" (proceeded to play king tubby, got awful looks)
(while playing a dubstep set) hazard - mr happy
some rick astely dubstep remix
many other internet memes that have been turned into remxies...
I actually got asked by some skanky old tart at a drum & bass night at a local pub I was DJing at "this music is horrible, can you play some Abba or something"
While closing out a hip-hop show and playing dubstep (as requested by promoter) and had a girl come up and ask me to play some 'good music'. Normally I would just laugh it off and play some music with lyrics in it, which is what I'm sure she wanted...But since I was in the middle of playing a track I produced, I just looked at her and said 'I don't have any good music...Sorry'. She looked confused and walked away.
I DJ for my friends once in a while. At the last party, I admit, I played about 75% dub/grime/etc.
I got messages from like 10 people after saying "you're a great DJ and all but we can't dance to dubstep. You need to cut out that dubstep stuff and play real music we can dance to / enjoy."
