Your FAVOURITE thing about dubstep.
Your FAVOURITE thing about dubstep.
Ok with all the ''debate'' that is going on at the moment I wanted to start a thread with positive vibes.
Post you're favourite thing about dubstep. Whether its a certain track, a certain DJ, vibe, club, soundsystem, lifestyle......whatever it might be please post it!! If you don't agree with what somebody else says, this isnt the time or the place to ''tell them their wrong''. Positive vibes please people.......Get cracking!!!

Re: Your FAVOURITE thing about dubstep.
Ooops.....didnt write mine.
I'd say that i love the fact that it doesnt matter if you're black, white, asian, male, female, geek, chav, rubeboy, rocker, old, young or whatever you are accepted in dubstep and there's a proper ''family'' kinda vibe to it. I think dubstep raves are easily the most diverse and accepting that I have been to.

Re: Your FAVOURITE thing about dubstep.
Any surviving dub/reggae influences
The tempo
Bassline
good drums/percussion
2step/4x4 into halfstep drops
sorry I just got back from the rave from hell and i am badly in need of actual dubstep.

That special feeling when the DJ drops an unreleased tune you came to hear live, and the fact that you can tell by the looks of the people in the room that they were waiting for it too.

sub-bass primarily... as well as hearing just the start of a track being faded in, anticipating what is about to come... seeing heads that know all around you, all whom are feeling what you're feeling and that are appreciating the production and bass music in general

Also the fact the the majority of the scene (especially in the early years) had basslines that the majority of speakers can't even reproduce properly. Comparing the effect of pre-recorded dubstep tunes in your bedroom to a large system is an eye opening experience. I like it that you haven't really heard dubstep unless you've heard it on a big system. Dubstep may be the only genre of electronic music that can really do that.
Dubstep/Reggae/Jungle/Filth we love it all.

The fact it's so diverse it's doors are never closed to new ideas. It's just a shame not many people are open to accepting most of these styles.

Bass.
The deep, dark, really heavy sound that Cyrus, Distance, Tunnidge etc. keep on pushing. Mainly Distance right now, his latest work been just outstanding - Berzerk, Mean Streak, Reboot, Malice for a few. Benton is well good too. Videodrome, Smash That Badger, Out There - just pure bliss. Tearing shit apart in a beautiful way.
Varying sets. Joe Nice is one of them who can just simply mix anything and it sounds well good, everything that i can't accomplish properly. Think his 01/11 show has him playing these three in a row:
Lost - Escape From The Womb
Mala - Education
Killa & Instinct - Indica
and it sounds so so so so good.

i really enjoyed the minimalism. since a lot of dubstep has become so cluttered with noise i've had to get my fix elsewhere, and i'm all over autonomic and dub/minimal techno now.
but i'd say i enjoyed the family feeling houston had in 2006-7, i knew almost everybody by name, i knew what they did, their kids' names, and what kind of tunes they expected me to play in my sets.
