Pitch Bend with Massive & Logic 9
Alright guys, I'm sorry if this seems basic but I really can't solve this. I simply want to automate pitch bends since the pitch bend wheel on a midi keyboard can only go so far. So, I've attempted this in two ways. First, I tried using the hyper editor in logic. This does perform a pitch bend; however, I find that it will change the pitch of the entire synth/bass track that I apply it to. Also, I'm not a fan of the series of bars that the hyper editor uses for automation. It's not very accurate at all.
I've also tried pitch bending with Massive alone by setting an LFO to control the pitch of all of my oscillators, but it seems like this messes with the actual sound of the synth and doesn't sound like a nice, uniform pitch bend. I've obviously messed with the glide to no end but I can't figure out any way to make a note drop off or bend up nicely.
Is there any way I can perform connect-the-dot style automation of pitch like you can do with all the other automation in Logic (volume, whatever attributes of PtVerb, etc.)?
Thanks in advance if anyone can help with this. You guys are legit.

Don't think you can automate pitch like that in logic....
Only advice i can give is play with the glide time in massive and the 'up' and 'down' amounts - an octave each way (+12 / - 12) can work ok.

and make sure the midi notes overlap
Re: Pitch Bend with Massive & Logic 9
That's pretty much how I get my pitch bends on massive. Or bounce it to audio and automate the transpose on that.vertx wrote:Only advice i can give is play with the glide time in massive and the 'up' and 'down' amounts - an octave each way (+12 / - 12) can work ok.
Re: Pitch Bend with Massive & Logic 9
its possible to do easy pitch bend with logic and massive. you have to go into the osc section in massive and set the pitch bend range. i usually put the "up" at 12 and the down to - 12. that gives you a good range. then go into the piano roll and open up the little thing at the bottom (sorry dont know what its actually called
)
from there there is a little down pointing arrow near all the numbers, choose pitch bend (near the bottom).
took me forever to figure that out. but its been hella usefull.

Re: Pitch Bend with Massive & Logic 9
bounce out stems and bend em in a sampler. cool thing with massive and other synths is when you start using multiple oscillators and more effects, a synth will sound significantly different depending on the note played, so you can choose whichever note you like best in terms of the synth's overall sound, bounce it out in a 12 second clip and then throw it in a sampler and play the specific sound at any note.
Re: Pitch Bend with Massive & Logic 9
just put a macro on all the osc and go up either 6 or 10. and then automate the macro in logic with connect the dots. put the macro on every osc even the mod osc and your done

You guys are fakin awesome, thank you. Will post results.
Re: Pitch Bend with Massive & Logic 9
you could just set massive to legato trigga and place a higher or lower midi note over the key you want to pitch up or down and set the "Time" parameter in the oscillator tab a little over half way. sounds legit trust me
Re: Pitch Bend with Massive & Logic 9
As long as you have pitch bend range set in massive you should be able to do it in hyper view. Go to the piano roll > view > hyper draw > pitch bend, a little box with orange text should appear at the bottom of the piano roll, drag that up to enlarge and you can draw in pitch bend automation that way.
