Check out this video http://vimeo.com/9543504, and hes got 2-3 more on FM8 ... nasty growl, load aggro from the preset list in FM8, play with the talk wah effect and play with the pitch and mod wheels.

as soon as a sound gets heavily modulated by another sound, u hear growl...

as soon as u start modulating modulators, it gets even worse... i say just open the mod matrix and experiment with sine waves... its crazy what u can make out of a sine wave...

Now that's answered, HIJACKED;

New to FM8, but how do I alter the filter envelope? Say I have the A and B operators active, do I need to then link them to Operator Z? Where is the ADSR controls in Operator Z or do you have to manually shape the graph?

Thanks

first question : yes, u need to link them thru z... they have to go thru it to be affected

as for B... u need to experiment, ive never fully understood it... i had some kind of preset i used to use that sounded fun ... i like to experiment with custom cutoff shapes... but dont mistake them for lfo shapes... they are not the same...

EDIT :

i did not know this came out, dont know where it did... it pretty much sums the basics as for what to tweak ... doesnt talk about Z filter tho..

What are your guys thoughts on the filters in fm8? I just recently started using it but cant seem to use them properly. Im coming from massive and albino and I just feel like the filters in fm8 dont cut out those frequencies that thier supposed to but im probabbbbly doing it wrong. If anyone has any tips for this id appreciate :)

definitely, just got komplete 7 (already have massive and battery) so i'm learning reaktor, absynth (I got pretty good at vers 2, but its in vers 5 now), fm8 and a bunch of others. The trifonic tutorial videos are great :corndance:

Yeah that's what I'm getting at, I think I've linked the Oscillators to Operator Z properly, but a low pass or high pass filter envelope doesn't seem to yield much of an effect.

its frustrating... ive been working at it for a while, tried changing envelope amount, different filter shapes, but they all just sound so half assed.... Is it possible that fm8s filter just suck...? haha can someone clarify please

i think most people mistake the envelope for the lfo shape... they are not the same.
