alright so ive been trying to attain this mettalic sounding bassline, where it sounds like its alost got a ringing tone to it. if you dont know what im talking about you can hear it in the song Ignition by Downlink. I hate to sound like a dick but when people say things like "just layer sines and triangles" i dont really consider it help I use massive "not cracked dont hate" and i was wondering if anyone knew how to attain this metallic sound, and which presets do it.
specifically for me i use malstrom and turn the shift knob up a bit and play with the index slider. i can get a nice metallic bass with that. i know that doesn't really help you sorry get reason

Scrapyeard + broad wavetable position lfos = metallic sounds.
Add phase modulation = more metallic
put the shortest delay youve ever used on it via mixer rack = REALLY metallic.
OP, providing a clear timed example will help you ya know, its like someone said the other day, you cant expect us to know what you mean in a sea of bro wobbles...
heres the sound im talking about im not sure what these things you guys are saying are, like fm synthesis, cuz im rather new to this, but yeh this is the sound im going for

HUH
Here is an idea, why not try them ?:D
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

which sound? that has a typical robot vocal patch and then a different one to fill every other bar, please, timelinks...
You are overestimating how much of brostep is a single synth and underesitmating the power of multiple patches/layering/cuts.
