Looking back on FabricLive 37.....
And considering it got a good bit of hate from a lot of 'ture' (if you want to use that term) dubstep heads for been an influencial factor in the formation of 'brostep' (or whatever the fuck its called), and having a lot of mid range with a far bigger focus on being hard than creating something like what came before, what do you think of it now?
A lot of the hate seemed to be pointing towards this been a part of the dumning down of dubstep and ranks along side the brostep artists of today e.g Borgore, Skrillex, Datsik etc, but really, it sounds quite a bit different than them. Its not just a mid-range assault with chages in tones and frequencis over a generic drum pattern, theres some serious sub bass on some tracks, and some bang hard in a good way (Vex'd good).
Tracks like The Others "Africa VIP", Caspa "Louder", Caspa & The Others "Well 'Ard", Orien "Look At My Eyes", Orien "Rainbow Tear Drops" etc are dope to me, they have different drum patters, some nice bass, and most importantly they bang hard, which was the intention i think.
Although there are some duds, I dont really like any of Rusko's tracks, i find them annoying as fuck but thats my opinion. Not a fan of Rusko in general.
What does everyone else think looking back on this album?

Re: Looking back on FabricLive 37.....
I was never a big fan of this mix-cd, since some of the best tracks were already released back when it came out (e.g Girl From Codeine City & Round The World Girls), and I was then primarily waiting for Rock Bottom & Conquests Forever came out... which it did same year back then, Rock Bottom maybe 2008... It's pity that Skreams Guru (Power Hour) never got anywhere though, could have been a brilliant track on Skreamizm 4.

Plenty of classics on there, the legacy, forever, louder, v. It was all good fun back then!
Re: Looking back on FabricLive 37.....
The reason a lot of the tracks were already released is because itines wont sell a mix CD unless a certain percentage of the tracks are already released. This mix always brings back good memories for me!

Re: Looking back on FabricLive 37.....
that mix was the first proper mix that got me into this whole world of music, never looked back. carried a wicked dark feel throughout (besides a couple of rusko tunes) I think in time it will go down in history as a 'great' because the more bullshit brostep we hear the more we will learn to appreciate it and think actually it wernt that bad.

it was awful

Used to rinse this one when I first got into dubstep. Compared to the stuff that's getting released these days it's deep as you like.
But in all seriousness, it did tearout well. And personally I don't think it can even be compared to the 'brostep' producers of these days.

This mix is the first one that had me searching for more similar sounds... You could probably say it's what got me into dubstep, really. Can't say that I'm a fan of every single track on the mix, but that's a rarity in it's own. Either way, I think you've gotta consider the mix an instant classic considering what it has done for the scene. I'm sure a lot of DJs look up to Caspa & Rusko for this one.

This is what opened the avenue of dubstep to me, for which I'm eternally grateful. I often play it through when I'm feeling nostalgic. ]

Good selection, mixing is pretty poor though haha but they did have to rush it.
Overall like ashley said, the cd was huge for the scene and without it would probably be a different way these days.
