Excellent Record Shops in NYC

Looking for some tips on where I can pick-up the latest and greatest in NYC.... I will be in Manhattan in August and am need of some guidance on where to go for sound vinyl..

its in brooklyn though. off the F train, like one or 2 stops outside manhattan

halcyon, most def. go for a bless up night.

Academy records in Chelsea/Union Square, and also in Williamsburg.

Hop the F to the end of the line in Queens, and hit up VP for the latest in dancehall.

check in and rock & soul, across the street from macy's, to see if they have anything any more. last i was there (a few months back) it was... quite sad.

honestly can't think of any more right now I hear vinylmania's doing/has done a pop-up store though, which could be killer!

the last 10 years have been really, really hard on vinyl in NYC. Kinda blows my mind that emporia like Amoeba on the West Coast can still exist...

w/ that said, we have some pretty excellent musical instrument shops tho.

A-1 records is a great place to go, a real diggers shop...mostly (if not all) used, hiphop/soul/disco with some electronic

this is where i live and believe me when i say its drrrrryyyyyyy, buy most of my records from discogs/chemical... try newbury comics (they have a small selection of soul jazz/hyperdub/tempa and a couple others) on newbury st. right next to hynes convention center on the green line. you should be able to find at least one or two records that will catch your eye, picked up soul jazz's future bass comp there last week for 25$, not too bad...

I wish I could say there is more but I cant, at least as far as dubstep goes. If you want anything else there is a place called "In Your Ear" on the boston university campus that has a decent selection of cheap, mostly old records. happy hunting.

Just got back from a record shopping trip in NYC, the best stuff was found at Halcyon, Turntable Lab and Academy on E 12th. And Halcyon is considerably more expensive than Turntable Lab, but the ambiance is killer and the guys at the shop are top notch (at Halcyon).

Meant to check out Dope Jams but never made it.

i think they may have one where they are based in malden but it would be quite a bit out of the way

Twisted Village was the best in Boston, but they have recently shut down.
Forced Exposure does not have a store front.
Underground Hip Hop was pretty chill, last time I was there they took away the crates. You had to pull everything up on their network. Fucking lame.
