16 year old signed producer (FEEDBACK)

Post by FuzionDubstep » Thu Mar 24, 2011 9:00 pm

Hey, ive just turned 16 and ive also just recently signed to mutated sounds who have signed tracks from torqux & twist and many more so its a fairly good start! just wanted some proffessional feedback rather than the clueless people on youtube... so heres my latest track, it is un-mastered at the moment so ignore the bad mixing although it should sound quite crisp on a decent system! :)

Very interesting track, definitely cool. Is it just me or are the higher freqs really painful on the ears though? Even when I turned it down it still was kind of stabbing, the scratchy wubs I mean. If that's what you wanted then disregard, but if not then yeah make sure to nip that in the bud.

Agreed on the high frequencies needing to be toned down but overall it sounds great. Quite an enjoyable tone over all, nice flow to the track. It bass filter modulations focus too much on resonance, although that's just the higher frequencies again.

Compositionally wise I'd probably have it change up quite a bit when the melody comes back in at around 1.37, I wouldn't bother modulating key but try making a good counter point and then bring the original melody over it again in final part of the phrase just before the second drop.

The only other point I could make is that it's a bit predictable/typical. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just not to my taste. The track does have originality but nothing in particular that would make me turn around and show it to others although I think if you worked on the making the structure more interesting and just added something unique then this would go from being a damn good track to a damn great track.

You're doing great though, I'm quite impressed. Keep it up and keep us posted.

Agree with the reverb comment.. Definitely give your track mroe dynamics if you cleaned taht up... Im not sure why every other post on here says 16 15 or whatever year old producer.. just post your track and not your age . Seems like thats a fallback for what your track could be lacking .. Sorry to go off.. Not a Bad track at all dpmt get me wrpng.. you might be holding your self back from the more critical feedback cuz people are gonna be lighter on you if they think your a youngin and maybe cant take to much harshness.. Im just sayinnn

^ agreed

variation would be nice
but as stated numerous times the highs have to adjusted
also idk if it is just me but the bassline doesnt seem to go with the bell melody in the background key-wise all in all solid work though
some wiz khalifa dubstep beats below, feedback! and check the other tunes
