[Feedback] Metric Collect Call (Ambient Dubstep)-Zoroaster

Post by halifaxer12 » Fri Mar 25, 2011 3:01 am

Hey guys, just looking for some feedback/suggestions on a new dubstep remix i've been working on; this 1 has been particularly challenging because of the original song structure but I gave it my best...Link-> http://soundcloud.com/djzoroaster/metri ... ll-dubstep

Yea it's nice, it could be a lot better if the mix were cleaner and it didn't sound like everything had been bathed in distortion... It would be really good if it wasn't for that.

so your saying you hear clipping throughout the entire track? i've been finding it very difficult to master in Reason mostly because the tracks tend to clip even though they aren't showing up in the red..

make sure your individual samples and synths arent clipping in the red, not just the overall volume, it sounds like everything is bleeding into each other, but like kaiori said, its more sounding like you actually have a distortion effect over the entire tune... the tune sounds good, other than you need to fix that sound quality.

Get a wave editor and lower the tracks whole volume! : )

Thanks for the tips guys; I just reuploaded the track again on SoundCloud; I noticed that some of the individual tracks were showing up red so I corrected some things. Please let me know if the quality sounds any better (that has been my achilles heel in my producing...songs are usually good but the quality isn't up to par)

Why do you care? I want to make sure my project isn't clipping because I put a lot of effort into making this track.

In all honesty with my experience by looking at the wave form .. i can tell it's over clipping by look of it.

Get Audacity ... free source of software wave editing form, highlight the waveform ... effects.. Compress (Reduce loud part and reduce peaks).. now no need to bump now you know what to do .. it's that simple. Audacity should show you if your over clipping or any other software etc etc .

Thanks man I'll try it out; It's so hard to notice clipping because usually I hear it through different headphones but I can't hear it in this tune for some reason...I was going to individually watch each track throughout the whole song to see if it was going red but your saving me time. I also have focus audio editor that I use to deamplify the whole track which also helps.
