Heh.."As defendants note, plaintiffs are suggesting an award that is 'more money than the entire music recording industry has made since Edison's invention of the phonograph in 1877.'"

Did the group suing think for even a fragment of a millisecond that they could win that case?
Is there even that much money?
Is there even that much money?

Very good danrev. Just saw a Dirty Harry movie, the villain, Scorpio wanted $100,000. Jokes.

More and more people are educating themselves about this and scare tactics don't work anymore.

Re: Limewire owes $75 trillion
Suing ordinary people (and now profit-less organizations) for ridiculous amounts of money. It's painfully obvious they're doing this for the headlines, to keep people from downloading music.
Re: Limewire owes $75 trillion
But they don't work? Individuals can still fruitfully be sued. And for significant amounts of cash. US federal law provides $150,000 in statutory damages for wanton copyright infringement. That is just plain fact. And those are statutory damages, that means the law says if someone wantonly violates your copyright, boom you get $150,000 (per instance!).

Re: Limewire owes $75 trillion
Yeah that's how it's all presented but then every case gets settled for a couple thousand. Pure publicity. This case with limewire has already been thrown out.
Re: Limewire owes $75 trillion
So that number is without all the damage it caused to people's computers?
