True Metal-step Collab?

Post by Hedorah » Sun Apr 03, 2011 2:06 pm

A friend of mine who writes dance metal suggested that we do a collab, I said yes coz I thought it would be an awesome idea. Unfortunately, in the two months since we decided to do it, we've had no good ideas about how a metal/trance/rave/dubstep song would go, and there's no other artist that does it so no benchmark to set it against. The only song we've found which is basically metal mixed with dubstep is 'Father Said' by Sonny Moore, but we feel that if we only have one song to base ourselves on then we would end up sounding too much like that song.

I hope the paragraph above makes any sense, has anyone heard of a song or artist that might help us get inspiration? If not, does anyone have their own ideas they could share?

Here's my friends band page btw:

don't do itttt!
Personally metal should stay metal and dubstep should stay dubstep.... keep em seperate. Unless you can really pull if it off its just gonna sound like a mess. But thats just me anyway dude... :6:

Stop worrying about what other people have done, and make the tracks that you would like to listen to.
Another suggestion, start off by collaborating on something more simple, get used to eachother as producers.

And Sonny Moore is Skrillex. Look him up if you still want reference tracks
Do you say zerbaman? Or do you say zebraman?

Rudebrat, from what i can tell he does (insert moniker of choice)-step remixes of metal tunes. havent heard any of his original stuff, but i think this might help you get an idea

I've made it a personal vendetta to remix those two songs better than that guy...

Have a look into downlink's stuff. He takes a lot of inspiration from metal. One of his tunes even has a very metal riff in it.

most metal sounding dubstep is hands down borgore or tomba.
lots of their tunes sound metal inspired probably because they were in a band together
