Soundcrash returns to XOYO for a third time with another solid as a rock line up that crosses sounds and feelings to give you a night not to be missed. This line up of live acts, djs and some inbetweeners (decks n fx) will have Hip Hop heads and Electronic Low End beard stokers alike going crazy to get to the front. It gives us great pleasure to present...
Jehst the original high plane drifter and a vital player in the U.K Hip Hop scene and the wider Hip Hop community. Often copied but never beaten his unique take on life in both North & South of the U.K has given him that edge that can’t be broken. As head of the Young N Restless crew he has pushed forward other artists that we now know and love such as Kashmere, Verb T & Micall Parknsun. Jehst has released 4 albums thus far and is on the verge of his 5th album ‘The Dragon of an Ordinary Family’. A true name in the game Jehst’s live set is one not to be missed a true taste of what is to come in the latest chapter of Jehst. On stage 10:30pm sharp.
Ghostpoet is a fairly new name on the scene but after his sold out headline gig at Electrowerkz in Feb and his critically acclaimed debut album on Gilles Petterson’s Brownswood label he is now one to watch. His music has a footing in Grime but who’s overall sound goes beyond genres and melds too many differing styles to name. Instant comparisons to Roots Manuva don’t hold weight for too long as he shines out as his own self with style grit and a polished laid back finish that cannot be beaten. Ghostpoet has officially landed. On stage 9:30pm sharp.
On hand to tie it all together behind the decks is DJ Kutmah. Ahead of his soon to be released lp on Brainfeeder he takes to the decks to show why he is now such a key player in the L.A Sound and Soundcrash regular. Brighton born and Hollywood raised he has become as much of an artist as a producer but with shows alongside The Gaslamp Killer, Dabrye, Flying Lotus among others you know his own brand of leftfield broken beats is where his true heart lies.
Lukid is the 20-something South Londoner whose high-quality blunted beat constructions are sitting right at the forefront of young UK producers creating serious music right now. As a key member of Actress’s imprint Werk Discs and more recently Ghostly International he has released some truly unique music. A true producer’s producer, his influences come from as far afield as Jazz, African Music and Old School Electronics. He melds it all together with ease sounding like a Hud Mo and Flying Lotus love child adopted by Theo Parrish. On the night he will be doing what he does best, mixing and matching across decks and hidden effects to create the unexpected. If you like Illum Sphere, Gold Panda & Bullion you will love Lukid!
