i just got an oxygen 8 v2
i was also looking at a creative prodikey
doubling up as a keyboard and midi controller/keyboard
will it help having 2 keyboards??
what else do i need now hardware wise??

i'd go for something with nobs on tho...

considering its around £40 to buy
ur getting a keyboard worth £15 and a midi keyboard thrown in.
only want it for assigning sounds to the keys.

Now the new drivers are available for intel mac are here the CME UF5 is my choice £120-£150 though.

i have a novation remote sl25 and it is pretty much the best keyboard controller i have ever seen. It's rather expensive when compared to the competition but Automapping just slays anything else out there and makes the price well worth it imo.

+Semi Wieghted Keys with After Touch are very nice.
+Transpose/Octave buttons are very accessible and easy to use.
+Pitch Bend and Modulation are the classic style. Feel very smooth.
+Transport controls are a great addition.
+Tappads feel great.

-Knobs are totally useless. Takes a full rotation and a half (about 3 twists) to get from 0 to 127.
- Tap Pads are routed very oddly
- Transport controls don't use defaults signals - need to set up manually.

So do you recommend it or not? cos I wanted to go for this one cos its so sexy with the touchpads:D Isnt there a way to set up the knobs to be more sensitive?

i was looking at an axiom 25 a while back or the oxygen 8 too. the only reason i would get the axiom over the oxygen would be for the tap pads. after reading decklyn's problems with it, i don't think i'd buy it. if i had little money to spend, i'd go with the oxygen 8 (think basixx has one) or novation remote 25 le. if i had more money to spend i'd go with the novation remote sl (read nothing but good stuff about it).

i have just a cheap midi keyboard right now, but it's kind of big and not right in front of my monitor, so i don't use it at all really, plus i'd like something with assignable knobs, buttons and sliders. you could probably pick something up off ebay pretty cheap and a saw a few refurbs on musician's friend.

That Creative thing looks cool, too bad it's made by Creative. The software and latency on it probably sucks.

I got an Axiom 61 recently (ditching Edirol for lacking aftertouch), and it's well priceworthy IMHO. The key feel is good, the programmability is great and it does the job. I'm not a big fan of M-Audio stuff, but this is a good piece.

I found the knobs more useful after changing the acceleration curve. It's crap for live use, but in studio it works fine. I also changed the tap pads to MIDI notes 0-7 on channel 10, which works for me.

Just my $.02 ...

That Novation & axiom 25 are nice, was gonna buy the axiom 25 but got this instead.....
