Post by blumonkey » Thu Apr 14, 2011 2:55 am

Hello people!

I m going to visit UK for first time next week and (1) I want to tell me the best choises for recordshops around london, birmingham & bristol and (2) if the MIXING RECORDS shop (ex- big apple records) is still open at Croydon. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mixin ... roydon.jpg)

Cheers

For Birmingham, you have HQ Muzik in the Oasis Market which is on the bottom level. Decent selection.

For London I'd reccomend just wandering around Soho as a starting point: Phonica, Sounds of the Universe, BM, Uptown are all worth checking out.

Here's a googlemaps link.

I thought their selection was pretty poor to be honest but this was about 6 months ago, Seismic records is the place to go in the midlands!
Hasn't mixing records in London closed down? Their website doesn't exist anymore

Not really worth going all the way to mixing even if it is still open when you can go to Soho

Phonica, Sounds of the Universe, Sister Ray, BM Soho etc. etc.

Bristol go to Idle Hands great shop, newly opened! Unfortunately the only electronic specialist shop in Bristol now.

If you come to Leeds we have Tribe records for everything Dubstep/Dnb/Reggae and Jumbo for a smaller selection of Uk Funky/"Future Garage"/House/Techno and quiet a bit of Rock/Pop/Funk/World etc.
