Yesterday, in Antwerp, Belgium hundreds of SUV's were found to have one flat tire and a letter behind the windowcleaners, explaining that 'the next generation' doesn't think SUV's belong in the city. They are not good for the environment, are very dangerous and above all only some sort of thing to show off (social status) because they are expensive and luxurious. The tires weren't damaged, they just put a stone in the thingy (don't know the proper english word fuck dictionaries) to let the tire go off slowly...
The activists who did it call themselves the next generation
thumbs up!

The next generation is obviously fucking stupid.
SUV's aren't the problem. Even if you drive a fuel efficient car you're still driving something damaging the earth on a monumental scale.
The real problems are the type of fuel we use and automotive makers lack of desire to move past combustion engines. But, having to read up on how gasoline is made into physical motion requires a bit more effort than being mad at the size of someones automobile.

Your opinion goes for the environment kind of things but when I think about SUVs or see some in the streets I just think... What the hell is the point ? On a social side it only serves the purpose of creating a new cliff between riches and poor (I am not a socialist btw but if we can avoid something like that well that's for the best). I know you're not dumb enough to come up with the argument 'it goes faster' and you're probably going to tell me it keeps the sportscars industry alive but seriously, UTILITY ?

in the US they are used by families more than by people being pompous. SUV's easily fit a family of 6, and are generally safer in low to midspeed car crashes.
Regardless, anyone who thinks someone driving a small economical car is somehow beneficial to the planet is a fucking muppet of the worst kind. It's the stupid idea that "if everyone drove a prius like me then polluting the planet on a lesser level would be tolerable". It's fucking bonkers.
Driving a small gasoline driven car is still terrible for the planet. A prius (if you're making the argument) is still an irresponsible mode of transportation given that we have superior methods.
I have no problem with people driving what they drive... but if you're wanting worldly change the solution isn't the size of the car or how efficient they are at consuming fossil fuels.

they say they are against the cars in general but just targeted the SUV's because they are even worse.

yeah of course fossil fuels. that's the problem. But you've got to ring the bell somewhere? Letting off these tires is probably the only thing you can do to get people's attention!

That's like arresting a pot smoker and calling it a war on drugs. Great if you want attention, terrible if you want change.
You never demand change from the consumer end as a demand has already been established. You disrupt the supply.

its all a load of bollocks, bring on the ice age and the wipeout of billions of humans.
the only way to 'save the planet' is by slowing down the rate of human reproduction and i fucking guarantee you all these hippy wankers are dead against that too.
im going to happily drive petrol powered cars as long as i can afford it because i fucking love going fast.

Allright. Let's give the oil platforms and pumps a flat tire then?
Disrupting the supply is ridiculously unrealistic. Making the consumer conscious of what they are doing is far better. If you would destroy and oil company they would call it terrorism: nothing changes.

Well do you want change or do you want a cool story to tell your other hippy friends next time you're sparking up a bowl? Cause it's seems this is a hippy meme with no intentions of changing shit

they wrote a letter for those suv drivers explaining that they want change: a city where bike is king and car an unwanted thing.
This is probably a good thing because it would lower the accidents rates, you would actually be able to breath fresh air in the city..
I don't think these are the usual hippies: their letter is well written and they make their points clear.

If every car in the world right now would be a Prius it would be better for the environment than every car being an H2. But I agree, the Prius (or any hybrid) is still an irresponsible vehicle.
