mix all vinyl but gonna have to jam a CDJ in there next year to play exclusives and shit. think the chance of me as a start-up vinyl dj of getting many dubplates aint likely so gonna have to work with digital and hopefully slowly work myself back to all vinyl. (cant see that happening though, just gonna be seduced by all the pretty digital options)

You don't hear cinema fans up in arms that VHS is the superior format to watch movies and bemoaning its demise, or slagging off people who like to watch films on Blu-Ray, I don't understand why this is such a unique phenomena to the EDM (specifically dubstep) world. There seems to be an absurd perceived dichotomy that you have characters like Mala as being 'true heads' and everyone else is a Youtube-rip playing 16 year old with auto-beatmatch software.

It's completely doable to have digital dubplates, if the heads give out tunes to a select few they can trust. Dubplate "culture" doesn't have to rely on an archaic and outdated method of music storage.

It's a good thing that there's a hi-fi digital archive of Changes out there that future generations can listen to without it sounding horribly degraded (and that's if they even have turntables).

I would hope that truly forward-thinking DJs would be excited about things like the new CDJ-900 & 2000's that can play lossless formats from USB sticks, just as I would hope that forward-thinking music enthusiasts would not be completely oblivious to the downsides of inefficiently mass producing small amounts of music on large amounts of non-biodegradable plastics.

You just dont get it mate, simple as that. And if you havent grown up with vinyl as a huge part of your life then you are doubtless never going to. If I was in your shoes I would just accept that and walk on.

However im not. And after seeing mala at bloc (playing off dubplates as opposed to a laptop) and there being an almost black and white difference in the amount of bass pressure compared to every other artist, I still think the argument for better sound holds very, very true. Especially in (as you say) dubstep, where low end pressure is what should be one of very few "rules".

Honestly, it was the difference between hearing the tunes and feeling them.

True that, Youngsta plays CDs and everyone is still okay to say he's the best. But if he had the opportunity to keep playing vinyls he would do that (I think he said that in an interview, correct me if I'm wrong). He stopped precisely because the clubs just don't keep up with it.

My uncle's blues record collection includes 100 year old records. Vinyl sticks about a long time. Mp3s just get deleted or lost when moving computers. No-one will be able to find mp3s lurking in second hand stores or in peoples attics in years to come
