Is this illegal?

Post by jrisreal » Mon May 02, 2011 5:15 am

About 3 years ago, I bought ACID 7 Music Studio and now want to use it again in rewire with FL Studio. Problem is, I cannot find the install disc. Is it illegal to torrent it if I paid for it?
...in my opinion

I assume there is some process of requesting a new copy/new serial or w/e with that DAW and that downloading a cracked version is illegal, but I'm more curious why route one DAW through another?

never used either, but I would assume that mixing is mixing, and its more about the plugins..
If you prefer acids EQs, compressors, etc. then maybe you can find similar plugins that work with FL

i agree. i just hear things about acid having a better interface and set of tools for mixing than FL and I want to take advantage of that since I already own it.

Its all pretty relative dude, u can accomplish the same shit in either daw, just a matter of your own personal workflow. a lot of people prefer to bounce in between program to program, I think its a waste of valuable time.

I tried to bounce all my audio files to wavs then load them up in acid once or twice and found these huge flaws.

1) you have to bounce every fucking file to a wav.
2) you have to learn Acid!
3) you still have to do the same shit in acid as you do in FL to mix ur tracks down.

Conclusion, (for me) just stick with what i know and do shit the way i already learned it.

@AfterEmpire yeah I would agree, im all for the "All DAW's are created equal" movement. I just heard that ACID had special audio features...they must have been mistaken

Just different visually and has a slightly different interface. Like I said, its all up to what you like to work with.

About the torrenting, the Feds or whatever dont care if you bought it, torrenting is torrenting, and I would say don't even bother, both daws do the same shit, the only reason I would say to just mix on acid is if their plugins are 200x better than fl's. If you don't like fl's plugins just DL some free ones

then I def. like FL plugins...acid only comes with like 2 plugins anyway. one for simple FX and one for basic, midi sounds

I had acid back when it was made by sonic foundry. Version 4 I believe But yeah I would say stick with fl and don't bother. As stated before, different daws don't have better or worse audio engines than the other, except maybe for pro tools hd which cost 18,000 usd

if you really mean acid studio (ie not acid pro) i definitely wouldnt bother, the built-in plugins are shit, basically it would be like using garage band to mixdown a track u made in logic

Try reaper instead. It has an unlimited trial, and you buy it when you think you have demo'd it enough
