I love that sound, anyone else ever attempted to make it? I've had pretty good results with Massive's carbon wavetable and a camelcrusher but I can't seem to nail it
And my automation edits aren't ever that tight

sounds like a somewhat formant square? or not.Hoborg wrote:oh man not a "help me make this sound" thread

i couldnt tell if it sounded like a formant or resampled to get that growl?Hypefiend wrote:sounds like a somewhat formant square? or not.Hoborg wrote:oh man not a "help me make this sound" thread

really sounds like some square on bend+ or bend- and the "Wicked" wavetable. im sure he is using the wicked wavetable since it has a very distinct sound like "modern talking" easy to notice if you have heard it a lot. also try scrapyard on bend+
it may have some formant filtz(like a low intensity/intensity parameter at around 7 or 8 oclock) on one of the oscillators not sure how many he is using. i don't really think it is a resampled bassline since it sounds too clean to sound distorted or have any sort of distortion. may have some light disto not sure. experimenting is key as a lot of people will say but it's true.lyons238 wrote:i couldnt tell if it sounded like a formant or resampled to get that growl?Hypefiend wrote:sounds like a somewhat formant square? or not.Hoborg wrote:oh man not a "help me make this sound" thread

yeah some excellent ideas, I don't play with the bend parameters nearly as much as I should. I also have an awesome plugin for fattening, Airwindows density, probably mess with that too. I'll do some experimenting later today when I get out of class...any ideas on what's going on with the automation in that bassline though?Hypefiend wrote:sounds like a somewhat formant square? or not.Hoborg wrote:oh man not a "help me make this sound" thread

this is WAAAYYYY over the top of that soundzerbaman wrote:Square, lowpass, distortion, phasing/flanging/chorus, play with the ideas.
Personally, I'd distort a little, low pass, keeep distorting, more, more, more, then lowpass again, then add the flange/chorus/phaser
what is this foldback distortion you speak of, and how can i acquire it for FL? (tried googlingefence wrote:actually i think its simpler than that.
low pass with foldback distortion and eq
Maybe so, that's what works for me though haha.amphibian wrote:this is WAAAYYYY over the top of that soundzerbaman wrote:Square, lowpass, distortion, phasing/flanging/chorus, play with the ideas.

he could be using izotope trash it allows your to distort a select frequence range rather then the whole lotHypefiend wrote:i do not think it is that complicated. i mean it is zedd but I doubt he is splitting the frequencies just to distort the midrange. probably all done within massive. but then again I am not sure that is just my idea.

plug-in with different shaping functions such as hyperbolic tangent (tanh), arc tangent (atan), hard clipping, saturation, fold-back distortion, as well as sine (sin) and sinc (sin(x)/x). The amount of distortion is controlled by the gain of the amplification prior to applying the shaping function (pre gain). The output level can be adjusted with a post gain slider.
A clipper chops of the top of a wave. Iaw makes the wave flat.
A foldback distortion mirrors the top of the wave, the clip level is where the mirror is. Iaw the top of the wave is folded back.
You can see it best in the daw with a sine.
I know I saw that post but that's an AU, and since I am using FL it's not possible to use that plug as badly as i want to. I even tried compiling a synthmaker code i found on the FL forum but it doesn't do anything.deadly habit wrote:monte-m wrote:what is this foldback distortion you speak of, and how can i acquire it for FL?
