I can have a VERY good attempt at most synths I hear but I've just never been able to get close to the Jack Beats sound... Incredible producers

A lot of their sounds have a heady mixture of resonance automation and very accurate and well thought out filter movement but beyond that, you are on your own fella!

This is just a softsquare/triangle wav wobble instead of a saw I'd assume.

Maybe use a band-pass filter to get the wub opposed to a lowpass.

I agree. it must be witchcraft of some sort. really speaks for their qualities as producers tho.

Yea you can clearly hear them playing with resonance but i dont think thats all thats to it. There must be something else.

see things like this people are over thinking imo
basic waveforms and basic mixing techniques go a long way
i think the whole resampling etc gen kinda drove focus away from actual basics and basic effect processing and eqing/levels etc
personally i'm more after the dubbel dutch sound than jack beats

and balls to specific vst shit, this is why people become dependant on certain (cough massive) and don't learn shit in regards to synthesis

ive been on that jack beats shit ever since they came out, i posted a thread about it a year ago... it was one of my first posts... and i actually came here to learn stuff that would help me become them... i kid i kid..

but their production level is so high... its scary...

i know they use logic, which is not the most automation friendly program... and i know they say they're all in the box... they also seem to talk about Quality control a lot.. they REALLY spend a LOT of time on basses.. i could tell...

recently ive been realizing that its all about the mix .. the context... some of their basslines would sound almost rubbish without the arrangement, then effects and things like that...

they're also AMAZING djs.

ive been on that dubbel dutch shit for quite a while as well... trollsta is my jam

i'm just pointing out people are over analyzing shit
generally it's as simple as it sounds
if it sounds like a well eq'd preset gen it is
ffs girl unit or hudson mohawke are good examples of presets or common sounds its more how you play em
what im trying to get at
people get so after a specific sound when it's so basic when it's the arrangement that makes it
ffs fly lo

hooked from same sample just repeated

people need to stop copying and searching out original sounds imo even if it's copying techs like this its better than heres a preset

mostly my point...

but there is skill in the automation in that :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lVEmdJbXt8 (automation on the intro is bananas... + its so wide, sounds like the titanic)

the wide part is all what ur saying : its about the context, mostly...

their drums play a BIG role in their sound as well..

bingo most people think automation is limited to basslines
which is far from the truth
people seem ignorant to automation and layers

Saw Jack Beats like 2-3 weeks ago. Was so sick! I would guess high ramped lfos at like a 1/12 ratio. Maybe a high glide and make it mono.
This. I basically hate anything with that "brutal electro" sound; it sounds all like HUGLAGHALGHALGHAL

Highly rate Jack Beats, have they ever made any dubstep? I think they'd be pretty sick dubstep producers.

Okay.. I'll remake ANY section of the song you just posted and you remake the bassline to a Jack Beats song of my choice and we'll see who gets closest?

haha i wouldn't underestimate DH,

hes got skills, altho jack beats are hard to emulate... they have a really tight sound... (i still think most of it comes from cleaver arrangements, mixes, and rythm sections...)

and ascian, i might be game sometime in the future, was just bringing up the point that i think people are overthinking how sounds like these are made ;)

bingo
you'll find the same in alot of fidget and electro house
simple sound design etc with real clever arrangements and solid mixdowns
