Don’t put a quarter in ‘em folks, dude’s not a fortune teller. More like a funk forecaster. And we’re talking really deep funk. So who’s Zoltan? Hungarian-Romanian (based in Romania) producer. Need more info? Hit him up on Facebook and soundcloud pages.
New ep from Zoltan titled “The Views,” featuring remixes from Sines, Wheez-ie & Mock the Zuma. Starts strong with original production by Zoltan – “Beat It,” a deep and moody broken beat type of funky joint. Tribal samples chant down babylon (well, not really, but it’s enjoyably hypnotic).
Partially Juked-out, bass heavy roller with subtle, TCQ soundin’ ass synth lines in the background. (It’s like tequila and cosby sweaters – they DO go together!). This might be my fav on the release (what’s yours? it’s so diverse). Mos def a main floor banger – HOLD YOUR SPACE!
Next up is “Muzz,” a sorta sped up dancehall breakbeat, with a really deep vibe. Then BOOM – sample-driven, arpeggiated synth madness for the masses. Rinse takes your breath away, then the break.
Three mixes of “Pawnoramics.” Original is on an abstract, broken bass vibe. Wheez-ie mix starts like a roller coaster, then syncopated Juke tempo masher. Bang! Recommended.
Mock the Zuma mix unfolds into some spartan main room business with lots of stabs and edits. Fire!
Sines ends it with a bassline remix of "Beat It". Sure to get the heads bobbing.
