Monitor/Interface/Hard Drive Questions
1st Question- Okay so ill get the more important question out of the way. First off I'll start off by asking, does anyone have a Tascam US - 1800 - http://tascam.com/product/us-1800/ ? If not, no big deal, but when you produce is it normal that everything is on full blast all the time? When i have everything hooked up, which it is all hooked up correctly I have have no volume control coming from my interface, as well as my mac. So I was forced to put my monitors on -30dB and I don't even know what my sub is under, very low as well. And if I'm producing with the volumes down, it renders/sounds that way all the time? Understand?
2nd Question - So I have a 2 TB G-Drive http://g-technology.com/products/g-raid.cfm , and right now it's about halfway full. So I went to go clean it out the other day, delete what I didn't want, etc, but when i DO delete stuff, no space gets retrieved back on the drive. Like I backed up my computer onto it (320 GB) and went to delete the old backup, and I deleted the old one, but I'm still in the hole 640 + GB. Is there a way to refresh? Or what, i feel like this should definitely be a problem, unless it is an easy fix!

Re: Monitor/Interface/Hard Drive Questions
For your second question, if your on a Mac (I don't know if this applies to PC too) you should just have to empty your trash bin.
Re: Monitor/Interface/Hard Drive Questions
get yourself a level pilot to control your volume
under $100 dollars, it's passive and it wont color your sound

Re: Monitor/Interface/Hard Drive Questions
Had look at the US-1800, as far as I can see it does have a volume control. Its next to the headphone volume on the the right side, where it says 'monitor'.
Re: Monitor/Interface/Hard Drive Questions
ICON - Does nothing, i'm a long time mac user< i wouldnt be asking if it were that easy
FSTZ - Looking into it.
Project EX - I know this also, but the knob does nothing, not for the monitors, not for headphones, not one thing :/

Re: Monitor/Interface/Hard Drive Questions
Well maybe you have your monitors connected to different outputs?

Re: Monitor/Interface/Hard Drive Questions
yeah as project said are you going out of the right output? plus the headphones knob would be used for headphones not the monitor one. i used to have the tascam us-428 and now own the tascam fw-1804 and the monitor knob changes my volume fine so can't really see why it would be any different.Wagsi wrote: Project EX - I know this also, but the knob does nothing, not for the monitors, not for headphones, not one thing :/
maybe you should outline exactly how you have everything connected?
btw i have my monitors on about -30db anyways even though my monitor volume knob does work.
Re: Monitor/Interface/Hard Drive Questions
The 2 that they are in are labeled (monitor) and they seem to be the only 2 that work.symmetricalsounds wrote:yeah as project said are you going out of the right output? plus the headphones knob would be used for headphones not the monitor one. i used to have the tascam us-428 and now own the tascam fw-1804 and the monitor knob changes my volume fine so can't really see why it would be any different.Wagsi wrote: Project EX - I know this also, but the knob does nothing, not for the monitors, not for headphones, not one thing :/
