How i fell in love with Dubstep.

Post by Ted-E » Fri May 13, 2011 10:12 am

This right here. I randomly came across this in like 2006 or 2007 and weirdly enough i just got myself a subwoofer! showed it to my brother and cousins and we were all going crazy to this. i had to look for more stuff like this, so i started asking around what the fuck this is and got told its called dubstep and rah rah look for these guys and these guys and it just went on! Was just wondering what was the first dubstep traccks that you lot heard and got you hooked?

1st track i herd was probably request line. didnt really get the subby part about the music straight away

1st track that made me look into dubstep more was night

the track that really sold it to me was probably spongebob by coki

I guess I just didnt open my ears enough to subtleness and lower fequencies, so it took a more overt hype tune to get me to realise. things have changed a lot since then tho lol.

I used to really like rock music.
Came back from london with a friend and heard Dj Hazards Machete.
From then on i listened to Dnb a bit and grew bored with it.
Heard Benga's Diary of an Afro Warrior and just Fell in love with the sound and it progressed from there.

Still listen to that album Alot.

I think I really got into antiwar dub and request line when I wasn't getting the bass part because they still have a solid midrange. But then a friend took me to a night and I heard Goat Stare on a big system.

yea i was listening to alot of grime back then, then what i quite liked was alot of grime artist were using dubstep and it just seems to work so well together! can't forget request line, i remember the first time i heard that aswell, was really high and was browsing youtube (as you do) and i instantly became a fan of skream! what was it about dubstep that actually made you guys love it then? me it was just how different it was from everything else, it seemed to fill that gap in music, the bass the space and heavy snares, so i was loving it on my subwoofer then i went to a night... that was in bristol i can't remember what the night was called but it was basically packed and it was full of heads just feelin the bassweight and havin a good time! can't wait to go to a dubstep night again :( haven't been in about a year an half cause we got none in mauritius :(

the blank (16 bit remix) was the first track i fell in love with. through that i found the more midrange tracks, after getting bored with that repetition of those tracks i bought a decent sub and got into hyperdub etc

Wasn't Request Line for me, but it was Skream - Stagger

A mate played it in his car system, I had never even heard of dubstep til then. Been hooked ever since!

I didn't fall in love with Dubstep so much as got really drunk one night and woke up next to Dubstep.

First track I really liked was Skream's In For The Kill remix. I still like it, very spacey, got some decent bass on it.

First 'proper' track I went mad for was Earth A Run Red. :U:

This was all via the usual Caspa / Rusko / mid-range stuff.

I remember my boys always bangin out Skream's In For The Kill and thought it was pretty cool.

Then I heard Digital Mystikz - Country Man and Haunted and I dug it a lot.

Chase & Status - eastern jam & duppy man just blew my mind, after that the search for dubstep begun and I found old stuff like Skrenga - Judgement, Night, and Digital Mystikz - Pathways & Earth Run Red and played those out quite a bit. Then got into Caspa & Rusko, like Wheres My Money, Hammer Time, shit like that.

But when I Skream's Watch The Ride mix :o I thought to myself....smh, this shit is fuckin CRACK! and I went from there
