I'm about to move to Denver in two weeks as well, but yea there's a huge electronic music scene out there and dubstep is pretty big. You should check out Cervantes, but in general there's just lots there so I wouldn't worry about missing out on anything, just go there and go out and it'll be obvious where the fun is.

cheers

Denver is where it's at.

Check out Sub.mission - they put on a ton of shows in Denver (mainly at the aforementioned Cervantes)

Are there any record stores in Denver, CO where one can find house, techno, and dubstep 12"s?

Is Wax Trax still around? Loved that place, found some really random and great music up there.

edit: God, I really just miss Denver in general, thinking about it. Great city.

Yeah, Wax Trax is still goin' strong. They don't have much variety of recent-released vinyl, but they're unbeatable if you wanna crate dig for samples and old records. The people that work there are so chill too, always down to chat about all sorts of good music. Twist and shout is ran by hipsters for the most part, but there are some cool cats there also. When I first started Djing a dude there spotted me goin through the dubstep vinyl and he came up and recommended the Johnny 5 ep by Gemmy, Purple City by Joker, and Aesaunic EP by Scuba-- he also told me to buy everything released on Planet Mu and Hyperdub. I had really only gotten in to stuff from Tempa, DMZ, and Deep Medi up until that point so he definitely opened up some doors for me.

Yup, as others have said, there's a great scene here in Denver for bass music. Sub.Mission is constantly bringing great shows, and they do a good job of representing all sides of the dubstep sound, not just going for the stuff that sells the most tickets all the time. Also check out Mile High Sound Movement, Got Bass, Family Moons, Euphonic Conceptions... there's a lot of crews in Denver that put on dope shows. Oh, and definitely hit up the Whomp Truck - they do a free monthly on 7th & Santa Fe during the 1st Friday Art Walk.

And the Denver/Boulder area has a crazy concentration of talented producers... I'm sure I'm gonna miss some, but here's a list off the top of my head:

Zeno
Rumblejunkie
Alert
Future Simple Project
Markus Whaley
Just Ben
The Digital Connection
Jantsen
Project Aspect
Unlimited Gravity
Cloud-D
Samples + Fisk (Fresh2Death)
Dirt Monkey
Ishe
VibeSquad

...and yeah, more that I can't remember right now. If you see any of those names on a flyer, it's probably an event worth checking out. Not all 100% dubstep, but tons of talent in the bass music scene.

and I'm here too :t:
