For our guest Druffmix we had to take our piggy bags to the slaughterhouse and a mortgage on the house that Jack built. Yes, Groover Klein, the platinum boy, does not come cheap. But he is worth every single penny. We are so blessed to get a Groover Klein Garage Revival set we could punch the air.
Everybody who is lucky enough to see and hear in the 1990s Groover Klein break Garage for the continent in Mannheim’s Boogiebar (he broke Breakbeat/Jungle 5 years before that at Milk!), did enjoy glory days. Back then, the Boogiebar was a social construct which was miles better than the celebrated Garage/Two Step Clubs in London or Aya Napa. Groover Klein served the funkiest music for the funkiest crowd in the world with a towering sound system in the basement that would have put Jah Shaka to shame. The hosting ringmaster was our friend Seebase who relentlessly implemented a vision into a club. Upstairs, the hip hop/R&B bar. Downstairs, it was pure joy to watch GK, Ellesse-top, Superstar sneakers, bubbly in one hand, standing there, cool, grinning, sliding in the next record fresh from some shady pressing plant in East London for a sweaty crowd.
Lovely memories we want to share with this mix.
