Trendy London
I live in Bristol, which is ace. However I keep getting the London itch and I think, fuck it, may as well give it a go.
Anyway, I don't want to move to London and live miles outside of everything just because it's cheap - if I'm doing London then I wanna be right in the heart of all the trendy hipster shit, the more pretentious the better. If I'm gonna live the london life, gain a coke habit and try and meet over the top artsy types then you may as well do it properly. I don't really have many friends who live there, so if you guys could recommend me the most hip, pretentious, artsy hipster hangout areas out there please, that would be great. Any details of why and stuff around would be cool.
Right, I'm off to buy some neon sunglasses and some tighter jeans...

Re: Trendy London
haha, theres no defending Shoreditch for being full of trendys wearing spray on jeans with turn ups and boat shoes - this was re-affirmed by Nick "Grimmers" Grimshaw coming out of some overpriced wanky boutique opposite my work the other daycityzen wrote:Shoreditch. Go.

Go down Primark, get yourself a cheap bra, pref. E cup or large. Rig up a catapult and fire water balloons at them.
Re: Trendy London
OK cool, I figured Shoreditch would be mentioned a lot!
On a side note, which are the best bars? Bristol's great for the type of hang outs where you meet people really easily - they just seem set up for it. I know London aint half as friendly as Bristol, but in the Shoreditch / Dalston etc area, where are the cool spots?
EDIT: Please don't anyone say Favella Chic or there's no way I'm moving.

Re: Trendy London
Is Shoreditch still cheap though? Go to Whitechapel instead, not far at all but reasonable rent (take it form someone who has lived there). Otherwise go to Brixton which has some ace bars and clubs and all that. Plus I only pay £280 a month in rent.
Re: Trendy London
My mate saw someone walking around pushing a bicycle with no pedals on it in Shoreditch once.
Re: Trendy London
id go to brixton or somewhere round there cos i got mates there but everytime i been down it seemed pretty cool, lots to do in a little area

Re: Trendy London
As someone who's made friends in bars/clubs in Bristol and London, I'd say London was actually a touch easier. Maybe it was the fact that Facebook had happened by the time I was going out and about in London, but I seem to meet a new friend everytime I go out.stevemac wrote:On a side note, which are the best bars? Of course, it could just be that people are so surprised to find someone who's not avoiding eye contact that it catches them off guard...
