Didn't see this anywhere so i decided to post this.
Resident advisor reviews Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (single):
http://www.residentadvisor.net/review-view.aspx?id=8266
The trancey hook of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites' title track is equal to nails on a chalkboard, and the less said about its onomatopoeic bass growls the better.
All of this would be irrelevant if Skrillex weren't suddenly and formidably popular...This is a remarkable achievement for a relatively unknown name—the mau5-machine backing has its benefits—all the more so considering it comes from a nominally dubstep artist.
Its one-dimensional aggression and appeal to the lowest common denominator feels like the exact opposite of where the genre began; there's a difference between perversion and evolution.

I remember reading that awhile back. I also remember agreeing with the guy for like... 10 minutes. Then I listened to the album and although it wasnt (And still isnt) my favorite in terms of Mixdowns and Mastering... sound design was new and refreshing... for its time.
I found after reading it again later it has a lack of professionalism. Scratch that, an air of elitism. The reviewer discussed the topic with the notion that a genre cant be bent or changed. Now look at what we have today. Brostep is pretty popular... Hell even I like it now.

Didn't see this yet although I'm pretty much on RA.
Rating 1,5

The worst rating I ever saw on RA.
Gonna check that 'essential mix'

by Skrillex in a minute. Could be funny, or who knows... good...

Review is pretty silly, contorted pseudo-intellectualism ("onomatopoeic bass growls", lol), but the comments section is (unsurprisingly) a goldmine of people getting worked up and spouting nonsense. The best one:

This EP changed the game.
I thought the genre was going backwards with all these Flux Pavilion, Datsik brosteppers, this EP changed it back to the right direction.
I'm hoping we'll see a burial b2b Skrillex release on swamp/hyperdub this fall.

If this means that the core Beatport user-base, as close to a mainstream as dance music gets, is going to finally acknowledge dubstep through an artist like Skrillex, I'm concerned.
I'm not surprised that this EP was number one on Beatport—it's fun and well-produced rave fare—but this music does a dangerous disservice if it's perceived as representative of "dubstep" to an audience that has never come upon it before.
So fucking true.

"There's still a vibrant 'dubstep' community that supports the mellower, original dubstep like Ramadanman, Joy Orbison, Ginz, etc."
Hmm.

there's a difference between perversion and evolution.
This

People often show this »get over it, dubstep evolves and now it's brostep«-attitude. Yes, dubstep is about evolution and change and boundaries and space and subbass but much of the so called brostep is just boring formulaic rave music much like what happened with drum and bass and clownstep… There`s a place for that and people like it and I'm ok with that but it's not original or creative or interesting. It's just not.
People like Mala, Distance, Pinch and many many more do amazing things and still push boundaries and create new stuff. So don't call this kind of dubstep »old school« or »classical«…
