Gossip at the workplace.

Post by Jhonny2x4 » Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:47 pm

3 guys (including me), 7 girls, and i'm the new guy.

Made the mistake of trying to be friendly and make small talk to break the ice, but it seems I have already been classified as "lazy" or possibly "weird"... hell maybe both.

Fucking stupid women. Most of them are in their 20's to make things worse, plus they're fat which is an additional reason they gossip.

I can't wait for this shit to subside.

If it's bothering you, raise it as an issue with your direct line manager. Say that you've been made to feel uneasy with some of the comments that you have overheard, and whilst you don't want to take further action at this time, your LM is obliged to keep a record of your discussion should it kick off further down the line.

Most companies shit their pants at a workplace harassment suit, so if it's really getting to you raise it again and they should take action.

Alternatively, stop acting lazy and/or weird ;)

LOL

there's a certain type of office worker which i cant stand

they sound like the exact type

dont worry, in about 2weeks you'll have done really good thing and you can ride those coat tails for a while, by that time you should have found out at least one thing about all the other people in the office to gossip about, and use that to a) make yourself seem funny b) make yourself seem better than some of the others, but not better than the topdog or else everyone will turn against you c) deflect attention away from your obvious laziness and weirdness which was picked up quickly by the sounds of it

It think the "laziness" caught on because I was late a few times within the first 2 weeks of working there. But that was mainly due to public transportation.

I won't deny that im weird though.

Haha sorry I don't totally agree but it tickled me.

Workplaces can be pretty sly but to be fair I think everyone can be as bad as each other to an extent of course.

My advice to you, if you are being made to feel lazy, would be to hit back at the rotund memebers of staff and be quizical about the reasons they are of a "Plus Size" .

Is it from excessive excercise?
Or maybe a strict diet of healthy nutritional meals?

It could be because the only excercise they get is there bowels wobbling under the immense weight of their diet, their lungs having to expand or their chins chatting about other memebers of staff :P No disrespect to overweight people (As long as your overweight following a medical or psychological issue other than green).

This may make me sound liek a tnuc but if you can dish it out and make someone feel bad, expect the same back.

Too much effort - a well timed "So, when are you due?" usually takes care of things.

I've always found the 'gossip' to be a uneducated mouth breather who has no life outside of the office.

Take it on the chin and avoid the coffee break bs.
maybe his magical jew carpenter compelled him to speak out

There's usually one or two people at any job who are just massive stnuc who talk shit about people all day, and everybody else just agrees as they feel intimated or just want the conversation with said person to be short as possible.

I've found in places I've worked part time alot of older full timers seem to feel threaterned by people half there ages coming in and picking up the shit job they've done their whole life in a few hours.

Haha this.
Also reminds me of an un PC but nonetheless amusing joke I heard yesterday:

"People used to call me Mr Lover Lover as I was a hit with the ladies, But I fucked a retarded girl in the ass and now they call me Mr Bum Spastic"

This does not reflect the views of the management

I might just hang my head in shame now.............

Preach.

I've seen this shite first hand, and it is (sorry) usually the women who are the pettiest and bitchiest in a workplace environment.
