EPIC TURTLE MUSIC +new WIP

Post by ZimmermanStudios » Sat Jul 02, 2011 5:53 pm

EDIT: POSTED A WIP, LAST COMMENT

Hi, I've been producing and DJing dubstep in my spare time for about a year now. I've been involved with professional audio one way or another for 6 years, and run a project recording studio on the west side of Indianapolis

I'd appreciate feedback on any of my tracks, here are two in particular:

The last song I produced
Soundcloud

One I think has unrealized potential
Soundcloud

Any feedback will be reciprocated, and I give legit, non-ass kissing criticism.

I like the musical progression your songs provide. Production sounds pretty crisp to my ear.

doesn't keep it stale.

Nice mastering, and i dig the tempo on "At The Air Show" being a bit faster then normal. makes it sound much fresher. Oh and really amazing sounds, what synths do you use? Not too happy about the intro in the other song though.. sounds a bit gamey and cheesy and doesn't have alot of those dark elements you have in your other songs. But as i said, "At The Airshow", bloody well done!

I use primarily Prologue, which is unfortunately a Cubase-native synth. The main synth in Airshow, however, is a freeware VST called TAL Noisemaker. http://www.kvraudio.com/db/4559

I really appreciate both y'alls feedback. To the "gamey/cheesy" comment, I definitely hear what you mean. I struggle when I try to make tracks that are uplifting/upbeat but still can be taken seriously. It's an art.

Hey man, thanks for the reply on my track. I'm away from my good speakers right now...all I'm using at the moment are laptop speakers, but I will say that I think the main bass riff needs a little more movement. Either a pulsating lfo on the cutoff freq. or something else to keep it from just sustaining. It's grindy but I think it just needs some more movement.
