Reason 6 announcement...

Post by samurai » Tue Jul 12, 2011 11:17 am

http://www.propellerheads.se/

looks like they've integrated reason and record into one product. plus they have some new audio interface. and they're currently beta testing recycle. nothing special. just a new ui and 64-bit.

looks promising IMO. was really expecting a new synth or something in reason 6, but then again wasn't really expecting an upgrade to reason 6 so soon.

brah.

They're pretty much unrivaled in the terrible promo videos field aren't they?

I used to love reason, the split with record was stupid so it's good to hear they're brought together. With the SSL desk (lol) in reason and some new synths I'd probably bother to look at it again.

I hope they have improved the squencer element tho, I used to love reason 3, but after v.4 ... i struggle to use it now, they made the best sequencer pretty much the worst! ... shame as i love playing about wiring stuff in it and making sounds

what is so hard about the sequencer? it seemed a bit weird when i first upgraded to 4, it was just one thing but i can't remember what it was. the improved automation was much better.

this one looks ok. if you have both reason and recorded it's no big deal.

jesus fucking christ their promo videos are awful. I think it's gotten to the point where they are consciously mocking themselves with each new promo video they produce. seriously why are they trying to make it look like only seriously awesome and radical individuals who are artists (not scientists lol!!!!) use reason....

Looks nice, but I have reason 5 and record 1.5 already, the upgrade to 6 will still cost me €99 for just the 3 new effects. Fuck you, propellerhead!

the promo video is bad, are all the people on it hippies? and one dumb statement that stuck in my mind was 'now i make more music than ever'. yippee. i've tried reason, and i don't think its anything special to be honest, but i suppose its personal taste. i don't like the fact that it doesn't support vst's, they should introduce that as a feature.

kinda posted this one an hour before original post but there was no love http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=207990

so mods if you'd be so kind to delete my post, much appreciated.

I do think for current R5/Record users you should be entitled to a free upgrade as it is only 3 effects for yourselves.
but for a current Reason 5, user this'll be a nice upgrade.

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

Ye I recently bought Reason 5 and I was surprised to see an upgrade so quickly.
Haven't looked into Record as much tho. Any remarkable features on it that would be helpfull?

Wouldn't look into getting Record now, hold out for Reason 6 - check the original post's link and do the research for yourself

Fair enough, was just being lazy and expected a response. My apologies, digging up some info then!

For the first time, i'm so happy I slept on upgrading reason 4. 64 bit, 3 new effects processors that look damn neat, infused with record... Perfect package for me. Never gave a damn about VST support, have plenty to work with with what's onboard.

It was funny though how they blatantly plugged to the filthy dubstep market

I wouldn't hold your breath, people have been asking for almost a decade. They said it's a stability issue, it's supposed to be an "all-in-one" type workstation. I haven't used it in many years though, how's the stability these days? There's always Rewire I guess. I think it works out for them at this point though, since it's pretty much the only software that doesn't support plugins... it's become kind of a niche.

Looks great, the 3 new things look really cool but combing it with record isn't much use to me as when i record audio, i use a lot of vst's as standard
maybe i'll make the change and try using out the new record features but i don't think i'll be buying their hardware
Definitely going to look in to the software though
