AKG K240 MKII HEADPHONES
Ez all, i'm looking at getting a pair of AKG K240 MK11 Headphones, but i've heard you need an amp to really drive them? So basically i want to know how loud will they go without an amp,
and also i've got an Focusrite Saffire 6 USB audio interface, will this act as an amp? or will i need to buy an amp separate??
Cheers

Re: AKG K240 MKII HEADPHONES
Rated impedance 55 ohms = your soundcard can power them, so you don't need a amp

2 keyboards 1 computer

Re: AKG K240 MKII HEADPHONES
I almost bought these. Needed some headphnes for a monitoring/DJing use. so I got Sennheiser HD280 Pros. love em.
My next pair will be these though. that will be when I got a recording booth

I have been considering these as well. But my question is, what makes these different than fully open? What's the difference/functionality of a fully open and a semi-open? I just don't understand
Also, how can these be used for DJ'ing if they are open? Is that where the "semi" part comes in? They can be used for DJ'ing, just wouldn't perform as well as fully closed?

Re: AKG K240 MKII HEADPHONES
ok quick breakdown of headphone styles for uninitiated
open: the bled out into the the world and vise versa
semi open same as above just not as much
closed
complete isolation
that is in laymans quick explain
djing cans should always be closed
whats nice about the 240 mk2s is i can have my krks blasting, pop em on and compare details
same for semi open etc
plus less ear fatigue
now those speaking of using cans in a recording booth you want closed
semi open can bleed through dependent on mics you use

Ok so in a nutshell- you need 2 sets of phones. Open/semi for producing, closed for DJing. No way around it huh
