US vinyl shops online
US vinyl shops online
I know the us shops aren't always stocked with the latest releases, but i'm tired of paying 30 pounds for shipping and still having to wait at least a fortnight to get my records. does anyone have any good recs for stateside online shops.
i'll start with a few i've come across. all of these combined still probably wouldn't match the catalog of chemical or red-eye, but it's a start.
www.turntablelab.com
decent selection and free shipping on orders over $50
www.sectorshop.com
a modest selection of records and i believe free shipping on orders over a certain amount.
www.forcedexposure.com
beware of this site they'll lead you to believe they still have every deep medi release available only to email you 4 days later saying they're waiting on new stock.
http://stores.ebay.com/Ear-Candy-Music
some store out of montana that sells on ebay, prices are a little steep, but they are pretty well at keeping up with the new releases.
www.bestbuy.com
they actually sell vinyl records on the best buy site. they carry some of the bigger labels like tempa and hyperdub. unfortunately the search engine is abysmal.

I've been meaning to contact him as he's local to me, but he doesn't have a storefront, it's all mail order.
Re: US vinyl shops online
redeye has super low shipping rates and usually comes within a week of shipment. most records end up being around $9 with shipping
Re: US vinyl shops online
good to know...i'm going on at least two and half weeks waiting for my current order from chemical. and yesterday i got totally jacked on shipping from sounds of the universe, but they had some titles i wasn't finding elsewhere.south3rn wrote:redeye has super low shipping rates and usually comes within a week of shipment. most records end up being around $9 with shipping

SOTU and Boomkat have the best selections but their shipping is criminal. same with hardwax.Mr_Frost wrote:good to know...i'm going on at least two and half weeks waiting for my current order from chemical. and yesterday i got totally jacked on shipping from sounds of the universe, but they had some titles i wasn't finding elsewhere.south3rn wrote:redeye has super low shipping rates and usually comes within a week of shipment. most records end up being around $9 with shipping

Just because you are a character, does not mean you have character.

Re: US vinyl shops online
Here's a little self-serving link to our webstore. http://www.crosstalkintl.com
A little more useful on the house / techno side, but lots of different stuff up on there. We order regularly from Hardwax, Clone, Rubadub, Rush Hour etc etc plus all the US stuff from Chicago, and all that small-run stuff from the D.
If you have any questions / comments, feel free to PM me.

Chemical is similar as well. My last order only took 9 days total to arrive.south3rn wrote:redeye has super low shipping rates and usually comes within a week of shipment. most records end up being around $9 with shipping
Re: US vinyl shops online
So the general answer is "there really aren't any" then, right? Shipping from redeye isn't too bad, but I'm primarily looking for stuff coming out of Detroit..which they don't have much of. Plus I live in the US, feels retarded ordering Detroit and Chicago shit from the UK. All other alternatives (discogs, label sites), stateside or not, aren't any cheaper.

hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the john..so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz?

try gramaphone? if their website represents their store stock you should be in good shape.jamesgarfield wrote:So the general answer is "there really aren't any" then, right? Great seller, I've purchased more than my fair share from this vendor. Highly recommended. Reasonable prices as well if you purchase more than 1.
I still buy most of my plates from Redeye, good prices and great shipping rates. I tend to avoid ordering one at a time and instead order in bulk, it seems to save on the shipping a bit.
Also, check out Bleep.com. Pretty sure they aren't US based, but I've found a number of hidden gems on this site.

Re: US vinyl shops online
ordered 5 records off chemical last week, total w/ shipping and VAT in the UK was 30 pounds... once i switched the destination to USA and the VAT was dropped and shipping adjusted the new total was 28 pounds... awesome... dont mind waiting tbh, still cheaper to order the records in the UK from chemical/redeye/bleep/surus and have them shipped over. OP says 30 pounds shipping where the hell are you buying records from where they charge THAT much for shipping?!
